Creature Trinkets are determined when a Creature is SPAWNED, not Killed.
So, you can only realistically Save Scum Trinkets (and RNG Gold Cards) with a Waft Emitter.
* Save
* Summon with the Emitter
* Kill
* Hopefully get a Trinket and/or Gold Card
If you get a Trinket and/or Gold Card, re-create your Save so you don't lose it upon reload.
* Repeat until you can't stand it anymore
IIRC, someone did this with the Termite King (for Gold Card), but it took them 4-5 RL hours.
Note: Environment Trinkets (Candy, Food, etc.) likely can't be obtained this way as the item you are looting would not be re-spawned every reload/play scum cycle.
--------
Save Scumming for rare Creature Part Drops will not work, since the creature is dead already (as you've looted the carcass) and reloading the save takes back those drops.
You'd be better off using Rascal Rogue and/or Dissection Expert mutations to get the (or more of) those rare creature parts.
--------
OR, so I've heard... I have no idea what Save Scumming is, really. Nope, Nope, Nope.
Not condoning either action (Political Future?), but Single/Co-Op Play so "to each their own".
--------
Yes, the drop rates are abysmal, however, Waft Emitters are faster than travelling to a fight, especially if farming the last couple of Creature Cards with 3-7 in-game day spawn rates...
Of course, shear boredom will probably make you return to doing it the old-fashioned way.
If you are befriending all the Queens in the Base Game (as most do for the mutation), it'll be (at least) NG+3 before you would be able to craft those 3-trait trinkets.
Also, by NG+3, you probably obtained all of the Gold Cards organically regardless.
If you can make it that far in NG+, you definitely don't need any of the advice in his thread.
That Termite King card sucked.
