Support/material questions
I know that if you were to build a tower and the bottom support was taken out, the entire thing would collapse. But Is there a limit to how much that one piece could support assuming it is never damaged?

If so, is there a difference between the building materials? Would Ash support more than weed stems?

I think there's a difference in world settings you can pick, but on normal/casual where I am you can get ridiculous structures on a single support item.

Calculating actual construcion strain is extra coding so it would have to been implemented later in developement :D

Depends on your settings.

If building integrity is switched on, then it depends on if any wall exceeds the sturdiness limit, which can easily destroy the whole house if even one parts at the bottom gets destroyed. Better walls have a higher sturdiness value, so you can simply stack more on top of it, before it reaches the limit (and at the same time you can make sure, that you've more reserves in case one or two walls get destroyed) also the higher HP of the more expensive walls can help in securing the tower from an attack (though it is still recommended to put down pallisades or walls around whatever is so important that you already are worried about attacks)

As for if building integrity is switched off (which it is by default), then the only thing that matters is, that any given part is connected to a foundation, the map itself or it having a path through various other parts to one of those 2. So even a single grass wall can hold a whole castle build on top of it, if you wish to live on a house of cards that's on the verge of collapsing with a single attack^^
