it's under the deck.
the HUD tells you the at the start if you have 1, 2 or 3 waves coming.
From the wiki: "The raids will only happen if a base is reachable by the attacking faction, if the base is near a currently set respawn point such as a Lean-To, and has a significant amount of Base Buildings nearby."
for attacking factions, you have to make bugs mad and they'll try to destroy your base.
the Waft Emitter works more like the MIX.Rs, with the MIX.Rs calling in a set of bugs from the MIX.R's bug set and the bugs aiming to take down the MIX.R, and the Waft Emitter letting the player pick the attacking bugs, with the bugs looking to destroy the Waft Emitter.
"The Waft Emitter is a Miscellaneous utility. It is used to provoke instant Factional Raids."
The Waft Emitter is used to provoke instant Factional Raids, the mad bug Factional Raids pick a base to attack and will not stop till the player kills all the attacking bugs, or the full base is destroyed.
you put the Waft Emitter in your base and use it, yes, the Waft Emitter attackers will attack your base, but only to get to the Waft Emitter. once the Waft Emitter is destroyed, the bugs stop the attack and go away, leaving your base damaged, but still standing.
mad Factional Raids and Waft Emitter Raids are not the same thing.
yes, base Factional attacks, MIX.R attacks and Waft Emitter attacks are all raids, but they are all different, different from how each is started, to how the game knows what bugs are to attack. not the same thing.
the Waft Emitter and MIX.R attacks are player started, so they are not even events.
time you see yourself. here is what you'll have to do.
(factional raid)
1. build base (be sure it is not held up by 1 part (be sure the 1ST floor is fully supported), and is not on water).
2. make the Waft emitter outside (be sure it'll NOT be the last standing, but 1 of the 1ST to be hit).
3. save the game.
4. make the red ant faction mad.
5. once the factional raid starts, go to the base and view the attack, do NOT fight.
(Waft Emitter)
1. load the save.
2. full the Waft Emitter using red ant drops.
3. start the Waft Emitter and view the attack, do NOT fight.
you'll see that the Waft emitter attack ends once the Waft emitter is gone and the bugs will mostly go for the Waft emitter, but for the factional raid, even if the Waft emitter is destroyed, the attack goes on.
also, you can turn off factional raids and still, the Waft Emitter will work.
they are a lot more different then the same. the 1 thing that makes the 3 attacks the same are:
factional raid is an event where a faction of bugs have had it with the player and attack the player's base.
Waft Emitters and MIX.Rs pull in bugs that attack the Waft Emitter and MIX.R to stop them not liking the sound or smell. attack ends once Waft Emitter and MIX.R gets to 0 HP.
factional raids and the Waft Emitters are just not the same. even the factional raids and the MIX.Rs are not the same.
