Why cant I make a shared world on ps5?

Topic in title.

I have this game for PC, but it recently went on sale for ps5 and I got it to play with some of my playstation buddies who dont have a PC. We figured we could just play via psn like anyone with basic common sense would assume

But for some reason the shared worlds option for multiplayer is greyed out and I cant select it.

Does it seriously want me to link an xbox account and force my playstation friends (who dont have xboxes) to make one just so we can have a cloud save world that SHOULD be unlocked for everyone regardless of platform? Were literally just playing on playstation, theres no cross platforming going on here.

BTW:
* For PS-to-PS Shared World, a PS Plus Account is required
* For PS-to-?? Shared World, a XBox Live Account (uncontrollable retching) is required
* PS5 Users must update console to latest system software (per PlayStation Store)

If I had to guess, you may have Cross-Play Enabled (which does require XBox Live).
Disable Cross-Play, and everyone should be able to play via their PS Plus accounts.

We all have ps plus. We can do a regular multiplayer host, but we can make an shared world. Sharenworlds is completely disabled and doesnt tell us why.

Cross play on the playstation is automatically disabled. It wants an xbox account to turn cross play on.

The shared world, regardless if you're doing crossplay or not you need to sign into an xbox account. I have this game on pc and PS5 and in order to share my world save I had to get an xbox login and enable crossplay.
