was expecting a lab or something cause the entrance is a small door but that wasnt the case
- The undershed lab is pivotal to the story, but doesn't end the game.
- After finishing it, you'll start the final main quest. It's quite a long quest itself, in multiple steps, but there's no urgency whatsoever. You can complete tasks at you own pace, or even do nothing and keep exploring the yard as much as you want. After completing certain steps, there will be the "final battle" of the main story (you are allowed to "lose" and try again without limits, so you can prepare better for next time). Winning that battle will functionally beat the game, at that point there will be one last thing left to do in order to trigger the endgame sequence. As long as you don't do that, you can keep playing freely.
- Before ending the game, it is recommended to complete a specific optional side quest, that becomes available only after finishing the undershed lab. Unlike most main quests, this one is never officially announced like "go there and find X". But you are given hints through notes and dialogues, and if you fully explored the yard you will know that there's a certain "somewhere" that looks important but you haven't been able to access yet.
Not only does this quest trigger the alternative ending, but it also unlocks a few recipes for endgame content that you'd miss otherwise.
- Besides, as said, there are optional bosses unrelated from the story (currently 4). Those vary greatly in strength, and beating the strongest one is currently the hardest thing you can do in the game, by FAR. (Incidentally, you need to have gone through the aforementioned side quest to be able to meet said boss.)
- If you haven't done that already, attacking small wasp nests will soon trigger a cutscene when sleeping, and a small new optional area will become accessible.
