maybe embrace that and make 2-lane ziplines both going up to down making a big x in the air :D
Actually, it is. There are ascenders for zip lines. They're not unlike the cable lines used at a lot of ski resorts either. They're just generally not as fun as the ride down.
There is also a Zip Line Ascender in the game. It takes the form of a small tredmill with an aphid on it that runs. I always thought it would be amusing, if, on a particularly steep zip line descent, the little aphid might just hold on real tight and take a few trips around, maybe had a little halo of birdies from the experience, but that's me.
In a multiplayer game, if it's unlocked by one player, it should be unlocked for all players, and it's such a game-changer too. I love my 2-minute zip-line across the entire yard - it's a bio-break ride.
X-shaped zipline systems CAN be built with some patience, but unlocking the motorized zipline upgrade is an upgrade in both travel speed and building efficiency.
You can unlock them roughly 1/3 -1/2 through the story. After defeating a certain lab boss, a previously locked door inside the oak lab becomes accessible and the upgrade is in there.
