Stink bugs wandering into grasslands mixer fight

I've tried several times to do the grasslands mixer and every single time about halfway through a couple of stinkbugs wandered into what was supposed to be the easy intro mixer fight and ruined my day.

I have a gas mask now so I should be able to do the fight if they show up again, but this seems like unintended behavior that probably should be fixed at some point.

Anyone else have trouble with "out of depth" bugs showing up uninvited during these challenges?

there are 4 or 5 stink bugs near , kill them first and then start your mixer. if i ever have to kill stink bugs this is where ill go. they are all around that oasis ill call it surrounded by open space

Agree with Kona Joe's comment, if they're being a nuisance, take care of them first then do the mixer

Is throwing spears still effective against stinkbugs? I remember reading in some patch notes that throwing damage was nerfed, but I haven't been playing in a while.

I tend to build mushroom brick fortresses over them, drop a couple turrets and reenact being on the winning side of Hamburger Hill. When all's said and done, the fine green mist settled and the bug parts all looted, I disassemble them and move them to the next one. Rinse and repeat until complete.

Yes. Throwing damage wasn't nerfed that much. And it was rather high to begin with.
Might take an extra spear or two depending on difficulty and mutations, but it's hardly ineffective now.

I guess that's kind of my point, stink bugs are level 2 enemies, but this mixer challenge is level 1 with a really nasty surprise for new players if you don't kill the stinkbugs first.
