I suggested cockroach, silverfish, earwig, and because we have the pupa but no adults a bluebottle or green fly - all suggestion for an inside the shed biome. Maybe even a scorpion boss there for extra scariness.
Skippers (Butterfly) would work better than most because of their size. They are quite small compared to their cousins.
Crickets. Seriously, they are everywhere in the real world where the fictional location this game takes place in.
Dragonfly. A smaller type. At one point there was a Dragonfly Slayer Sword in a very early dev build of the game.
However, since frog is not a bug, maybe they can add frogs or toads as invulnerable creature like crow and koi.
Well I think termite queen as a boss which endlessly summons minions would be nice.
Crickets. Grasshoppers. Moths at night. Honeybees. Cicadas. Silverfish. Centipedes. Millipedes. Slugs. Snails. Worms. Roaches. Ticks. Fleas. Lice.
But the boss bug I'd like to see is the velvet ant (which is actually a wasp). Now that would be terrifying.
Centipedes, near the hose in the haze
Misc creatures:
Flea - if tamed player can jump fast around the yard, allso gives meat when killed.
Grasshopper/cricket - same purpose as the flea just bigger at longer jumpes. Allso provide grass stems/planks if tamed.
Daytime butterflies - give scale to make a paraglider that makes the player fly longer than the dandelion seed. Wings can be used as wall decor.
Crane fly - just a passive creature.
Earthworm - just a lot of meat and food source only.
Acid spitting soldier termite. New soldier termite for a boss fight.
Nymph "Baby" termites - cute and just a good food source.
An accurate termite king ( not a oversized spiky soldier termite as now ).
Dragonfly - a ferocious creature that attack by sight and pursue player relentlessly as long the dragonfly is aware of player. Give player a new suprime hardened armour recipe ( see queen boss fight further down ).
European stag beetle - backpart shell can be used to make a dinghy. Allso gives a new suprime hardened armour recipe.
Centipede - are extremely dangerous with a toxic bite - if killed it gives toxin so player can make a special toxic weapon. Its meat is to poisonous to eat but can be used to kill of ants if they eat it. Allso gives a new suprime hardened armour recipe.
Bee/ant/termite pets:
Recuires queen pheromone to domesticate.
Queens/bosses:
Bumblebee, termite and 2 of the ant queens are passive and can not be killed.
Player though (protected by various supreme armour made from dragonfly, stag beetle and centipede recipes) has to fight of a horde (boss fight) of their elite soldiers before gaining access to the queens.
The queens gives pheromone ( for player to domesticate pets ) and trinkets when player using the pet love option to calm down the upset queens.
The 3. ant queen can be killed in a super boss fight. Though She is extremely ferocious and makes the boss fight harder than the infected broodmother.
The boss ant queen will on death drop pheromone, trinket and allso a queen pupa player can hatch, to get future free acces to the nest, for grabbing food supply such as candy and apple parts, honeydew droplets and larva meat, without the ants attack player.
Pets:
Bees:
Pet bumblebee give player the skill to make bees wax (for candles and a waterproof suit), make honey and a "bee-saddle" which gives player the skill to fly on a bumblebee.
Ants:
Pet soldier ant protect player from other animals and can be send hunting for meat.
Pet worker ant automatically drop/store honeydew collected from aphids in a honeydew container.
Termites:
Pet termite worker give the skill to make termite soil (concrete) for building hardened strucktures such as concrete hard walls, foundations ect.
Don't take that answer more seriously than the opinion from a random guy on the internet, but : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_frog
It would mess a lot with the game's scale, which is already all over the place.
The devs gets away with the koi because it's isolated in its own biome, and with the crow because it's flying and you can't fight it - and barely reach it. But a frog, on the ground, would be hard to scale without destroying the illusion. It'll has to be big enough to easily swallow mosquitoes / fireflies, mobile enough to move around without looking janky, while not feeling out of place.
At best, it could be a boss in its own arena, but even that is pushing it.
That said, it would be cool. As well as having snails, too.
Another thing that could be added would be centipedes, Those things are disgusting enough IRL, it would be a very nasty surprise for the shed.
For a less scary version, there's also caterpillars.
Also, ant queens. So those eggs will have a proper place to spawn (and be farmed).
