Flower petals not spawning?

Ive been collecting petals just east of the oak tree, but i needed more, so i watched a video, and it shows petals spawning all along the west side of oak tree, by the river... I live pretty much right there and travel through there all the time and have never seen petals drop from those purple flowers.. anyone know why?

Yeah, I never see them drop much either. They do seem to drop... but not often.

I just jump on the plant blades and shot 3 arrows into the flowers so they fall.

Climb up on the roses or I forget what they're called, but the big purple ones with the broad, oval-leaves. You'll find them just on the other side of the little wooden garden fence, where all the orb weavers like to gather. Hit the flowers, they'll break into petals.
