Why do garden plots only grow 2 musclesprout instead of 4?

Whenever I plant musclesprouts, if I plant one, it only grows 2.
Sometimes I get a mutated one that will double my sprout.

However when I watch all these videos of people playing the game - they have four musclesprouts growing per plot. Four tiny muscle sprouts per plot.

What am I doing wrong?
I can't find any guides to tell me why I am only growing 2 musclesprout per planter instead of 4 per planter.
These garden plots feel pretty useless at the moment.

It has been confirmed that musclesprouts were nerfed.
It use to be 4 per plot, now it's only 2.

It's basically sheer luck on those peoples' parts. If when you're planting a crop, you can add in Rotten Food to increase the chance of getting those "double" crops where it'll yield 2 items instead of one. You can add up to 5 in a single farm plot, which gives you a 51% for a double yield crop. Personally I've only seen a farm plot give me 2 double yield sprouts maybe a couple of times? The people you're watching seem extremely lucky.

Ah I know this, but I am talking about - when I watch people's gameplay on Grounded, their farm plots have 4 small muscle sprouts. Mine only grow 2.

it must be a bug..

every time I plant musclesprouts, I always get 4. that's how it's supposed to work.

adding rotten food increases chances of a double harvest, and adding rotting meat speeds up the growing time, but obviously, that is not your problem.

have you tried verifying file integrity? I have not seen this problem posted before. sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue.

I've seen discussions on reddit like this where some people get 2 and some get 4. I assumed it used to grow 4 and it got nerfed to 2, but muscle sprouts were never mentioned in patch notes again after the ability grow them was added in the super duper update. so idk

I was recently told that garden plots now only grow 2 sprouts, not 4.
So I guess at some point it was nerfed.
I was told I need to have at least 40 garden plots of muscle sprouts for it to be useful. I decided to just destroy my garden plots and not use them.

nothing of the sort has been stated in patch notes, or the forums..

I use 6 farms, and use a combo of spoilt meat and rotten food between them, and farm way more than I need.

in my game, it is working as intended. hence why, I said you are experiencing a bug

Seems to be the norm. I've also only ever gotten 2 per patch outside of lucky incidents. Wiki also lists 2 for muscle sprouts.

I have just gone in game, I was going to take a screenshot of my farms with 4 sprouts in each plot. that is how I left them.

I have not played for about 2 weeks (been obsessed with Icarus: New frontiers).

it appears that they have been nerfed. all my farms, now only have 2 sprouts. this is not how it used to be, and there was no recent patch, nor has it been in any update notes, as far as I have seen.

I have a garden of 30 sprouts growing. They always grow 2 sprouts per container, and I have harvested them 100s of times. Anyone who says 4 is either lying or not remembering it correctly.

Not sure what to say unless it was 4 in the test branch before it released to main branch. I've never gotten more than 2 per patch from the time they were released though.
