Scroll down to the app then toggle it off.
I did that already, it's why I mentioned the part above about "Microsoft doesn't seem to have an option just to disable mic access to this app only, without disabling it to all desktop apps (Which I still need mic access on certain other Desktop apps)".
When you go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone, Grounded gets listed under the "Desktop Apps" section and there is no individual toggle. Just a toggle to disable all desktop apps, but like I said above, I need other Desktop apps to still have mic access.
I tried Googling other solutions but none that I could find that worked for my particular computer. Are there any other solutions that you know of?
And no I cannot turn off mic access to all desktop apps when playing the game either because I use Discord to maintain video/voice calls with those I play games with.
So, as a result, if I chose the disable all desktop apps mic option, then I couldn't communicate with them anymore.
It's a real problem. Like I said, any other solutions you're aware of? I appreciate you trying. Any other solutions would be of great help!
Hey sorry for the delayed response. But if you're still having this problem, I was able to find a temporary fix on my on.
When you start the game up while wearing headphones and join or host a multiplayer lobby, tab out and go into your Sound Settings. From there, click where it says "Headphones" (which should list your current headphones), then you'll be taken to another screen.
From there, scroll down and go to the Output Settings section. Change the "Format" from 2 channels to 1 channel then tab back into the game. That should fix the issue, at least it's what fixed it for me.
But it's only a temporary fix though. I unfortunately wasn't able to find a permanent fix for the bug.
But I suppose the only true permanent fix for us headphone users would be if Grounded fully removed mic support.
Since it doesn't seem like Windows plans on making it so other desktop apps can be fully separated and their mics disabled manually like other desktop apps anytime soon, regretfully. *Sigh.* Thanks, Windows. Smdh.
Anyways, hope this information helps, if you haven't given up on trying to play the game due to this disorientating issue. If you have, now that you know a temp solution like me, I suggest giving it another try.
It's pretty enjoyable, all things considered. But be prepared to craft A LOT! But honestly, that seems to be what the game is all about! Still pretty though! So good luck! Glad I could help!
Thanks. I will try it.
So, is there no way to turn off mic access to specific apps in Windows 11?
