What effect to have on weapons?
I can't decide what I should put on my weapon, I feel like doing mighty because I really hate having to juggle weapons around.
What does everyone else do?

You're meant to be juggling weapons around. Ideally you want to be able to hit the weakness of most if not all enemies in the game, and certainly for all of the bosses.

Man my inventory is way too small for that

You only really need like 3, and then some you don't need to always carry around. Coaltana is pretty much a necessity for everyone because it has both slash and spicy.

I'm going tell you what I do. a bow with arrows. tier 3 spicy axe (gets you cooked food on the fly), tier three sour ox hammer, black ant shovel, fresh toenail semmitar, mighty rusty spear, and salt morning star (gives you dried jerky). with a black ant sheild to block. upgrading as you can. I keep all other weapons in a box and Armor on dummys.

Yeah after reading what dash said, I started thinking about it more and I plan on making an armory with everything I need.

Its a good idea to do that eventually, if you enjoy building and such, but there's a limited amount of upgrade materials on the map initially. At certain story checkpoints (usually after bosses) you'll gain the ability to craft the upgrade materials out of bug parts.

A ranged weapon is definitely something you'll want. It can make the transition into tier 3 gear much easier. Insect bow is good, but that initial wolf spider can be rough until a player gears up a bit. I generally get the crow crossbow and use it to move into the black ox crossbow later on.

Also worth noting, is that some weapons have a 'generic' damage type that aren't particularly great, but also resisted by nothing. The Mint Mace is a good example of this. Primarily generic damage by default, with a bit of freshness on the side.

I'd argue against upgrading blunt weapons, like the black ox hammer, seeing as all the blunt weapons have lower than average dps, even against targets weak to blunt. Better to go for an elemental weakness instead, or tear through enemies with perks like barbarian and a mint mace.

i like using the weapons that already have a buff then i go down the mighty path as i struggle to find enough chunks to make weapons salty fresh etc so i like the coaltana for example as that already does the spicy damage

Eventually you'll be carrying all kinds of elements and weapons to deal with multiple enemies. For me personally I usually run with spicy coaltana, mint mace, salt morning star, and oxhorn crossbow. That gives me at least the main three elements in some form and even if they are not always the exact match for everything it covers the more common enemies and my weapon choices are powerful enough that they'll handle a target just fine.

Even besides that it isn't uncommon for me to also be carrying a staff and spear of some kind as well.

Generally. you want to just focus on the weapons that keep the most annoying bugs away (ants, one million larva, spiders, mites/ticks,dusty boys, sometimes mosquitoes) and then just gear for the zones you're visiting. Keep your kit in the central camp location to swap when you need to, and then just hold a few weapons at a time. You'll want to focus bigger upgrades on what you'll expect to use the most (coaltana, fresh wep of your choice, fast dps weapon, life steal wep, bow, etc.) and only lightly upgrade things you'll be using for specific zones (sandbox/pond) until you're gearing up to take down the major bosses and unlocking the good gear.
