do red ant eggs respawn?

i just went in the nest and only found 2, i want to think i was in there earlier and there were more but they have disappeared. I have also been in the old ant nest by the tree and no eggs there.

I'm not sure if there's an exact math, but the more ants get killed, the more eggs will spawn in the anthill (to replace the losses with new ants).

The red ant workers lay the eggs (makes no sense, I know). They lay the eggs when too few ants are part of the nest. So slaughter ants to force egg spawns.
