Actually no. Steam has a suggestive price based on the region because Valve knows how poor some countries are compared to others. I'm from Brazil, and my currency is Real, if you do the direct conversion, US$1 = R$ 5,27, just that would be R$ 52,70, but the suggestive price reduces this value highly to make it fair so Brazilians are able to purchase the game.
My surprise to see this stupid high price (R$ 199,00) is because Grounded isn't an AAA game. AAA price here in Brazil is between R$ 180,00 and R$ 350,00 (if the AAA is US$ 60,00 or US$70,00 and the company is greedy as hell). Companies like EA and Activision are charging around R$ 280,00 for their new games... Blizzard, the greediest of them all, is charging R$ 350,00 for the basic version of Diablo IV (the expensive version is R$ 499,00, completely stupid).
THE THING IS... Grounded ISN'T an AAA game, that's why it's only US$29,99, AAA games are US$ 60,00 and US$ 70,00, Grounded, a game that is US$ 29,99 being R$ 199,00 IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, that's why I'm shocked because they simply exploded the price here on Brazil... Brazil isn't the poorest country in Steam Price Suggestion, so I can't even start thinking about how stabby Obsidian Entertainment was with the poorest countries out there.
Just for comparison's sake, a US$29,99 game should be around R$ 89,00 at max (the newest version of Steam Suggestive Price), and the oldest one would be something around R$ 58,00. Now, do you understand why I'm surprised to see this huge value? This game doesn't worth this much, this game isn't an AAA game, and it's only acceptable to purchase (here in Brazil) at -90%.
You're complaining about the price increase, this game isn't priced near a triple A game. The devs gave notice LONG before the price increase dropped when the 1.0 release came out, and you made the choice to not buy it when it was cheaper. this game is only priced at 50 CAD after the increase, so according to the conversion rate you should actually be paying roughly 195BRL plus any taxes you may have. I bought the game at early access price for 39.99 CAD which is roughly equal to 155BRL. The price didn't increase all that much, and like I said they posted it a while back about the price increase. So either pay for the full release or find a cheaper game to play.
I stopped to read here... You don't understand that exists other countries and what Steam Suggestive Pricing mean. I'm gonna give you the short version:
Here on Brazil, the company is charging an AAA price game for this non-AAA game.
Here on Brazil, Grounded is too expensive for no purpose, it doesn't worth AAA value.
Done.
I think a lot of people don't understand how it works. It's not just a change in currency, it's like a different exchange rate for different studios. Lot's of game will be like 1 or 2 reals for every USD, but other games will be say 5 reals. So that's like buying a $40 game (like Grounded) but having to pay $200 because it's from obsidian.
At $40 thought this game is wholly worth it in my opinion.
