I've never entered their hill. I don't have their armor. I discovered the abandoned ant hill near oak lab, but i didn't go inside.
So, I have no idea why they hate me. lol
Their territories aren't only the nests. AIUI much of the back yard is 'territory' of one type or another.
Though it does seem weird for you to have managed to provoke them to that extent suddenly if you literally only killed three. Of course, if you simply failed to notice the lower threat level messages, then this wouldn't be sudden at all...
But, we also killed like... a lot of them. Enough to fully kit two of us in red ant armor, make a red ant club, make a repair tool, and have some leftovers. And we did it in the first couple of hours of the game. Plus our base is pretty close to the starting field station which is very near the red ant hill.
So I'm just kind of assuming we did the murder so rapidly, by the time it checked for updated relation status, we'd already progressed.
