Food farm?
What do y’all eat or take for food? I can’t seem to have a steady supply of food as it spoils. The jerky is what people say but it’s terrible for hunger now?

That depends on what point I am in the game. Like it's practically a non-issue if I've already managed to get the hobstopper from human food items since that passively regenerates your hunger (just remember you dont have your tuft while using it, look before you leap, or just plain dont leap). By the time I'm doing jerky, I probably already have a little kitchen setup so i can also make meals, and while meals will also spoil they provide some nice benefits and great food normally. Some are actually reasonably cheap to. I do also tend to just eat most the human food that doesn't say it's fresh, but that is sort of related to the ant collecting issue from before where i just plain wanted those things gone rather than cared about the food they potentially offer (otherwise they make my slop smoothies).

But as far as the bulk of my food in game, especially early on when I dont have so many options, i love gnat roast most but you cant always find those everywhere (though admittedly you dont usually have to go all that far either) so I mostly just make and eat aphid/weevil roasts as i need. I dont tend to bother carrying more than 3 already cooked at a time so they dont spoil, and you can keep the raw meat in your inventory until it is nearly spoiled, cook it, and have a fresh spoil timer as well to really maximize how long that food is good for. Of course, i also have little outposts around the map (most of them are just a lean-to, a cooking fire, and maybe a light to make them easier to spot at night, added some water storage to the more used ones later on) so there's always somewhere within a reasonable distance that i can safely go cook and rest to.

When I need food, I kill Weevils and Aphids, and I have drying racks making loads of Jerky just in case I need to go on a deep dungeon dive or something. With the labs now having water coolers in them I'm not as concerned about the Jerky apparantly making you thirstier. Jerky isn't as good for hunger, but it stacks unlike roasts, so you can carry plenty if you really need to.

Jerky by itself is terrible, but you can combine Aphid Jerky with Mushrooms(which you can grow yourself in the garden plots) and Mite Fuzz(which you can get in huge numbers near the fallen log in the central yard) to make Miteloaf. That is a filling, prepared meal with the added bonus of reducing stamina drained by attacking.

Early and mid game I just carried a stack of mushrooms. They were everywhere and don't spoil or need to be cooked.

Late game I just cook up a ton of Onyx burgers and store them in the fridge. Just pop one before heading out and you will have a full stomach for the day. The materials to cook them are easy to get (especially if you are farming supreme stones) and the buff it provides is useful in just about ever situation.

i built my base near the pond and there is a big garden light that goes on every night, you can farm ~20-30 fly meat in 2 mins.
as for spoiling: late in game there will be something so your food doesnt spoil anymore. dont want to spoiler what

Whatever convenient cooked meal I can come up with, preferably, but most of them have some kind of annoying demand. Miteloaf is probably easiest to supply, I just don't like shooting aphids that much.
Jerky is good, because it stacks. Super easy to make on the fly with a salt weapon. If it's morning, or I'm hungry, I'll break out the spicy toenail and make a roast on the fly. My drying racks are for leather, and I haven't used my spit in forever.

To be fair that's actually a change from the more recent patches, so it wasn't always an option either.
