Some basic questions on base raids (and super-chips)
Hi everyone,

I just started playing grounded again with the full release. I was playing it for a while before the shed update came out, so this is my first time playing with base raids. My first base is near the mystery machine. I had three raids so far: orb weavers, red ants, and infected. I also got the Burgl-chips from hedge, red ant hill, and haze. Now, I have some questions:

1) Were the three base raids triggert by the story? So, do I get a raid after each of the super-chips? (Well, the read ant hill isn't a super-chip if I remember correctly.)
2) As far as I have read, you should get a symbol as a warning when factions start noticing you. Something in three stages: noticing you, being annoyed by you, wanting you gone. Only after that, a base raid is triggerted. However, I never saw these symbols. Did I miss them? Or do they simply not show up for these raids because they are directly triggerted by getting the chips.
3) Do only the super-chips trigger raids or all chips? (So, what about picknick table, pond chest, etc.?)
4) The haze raid was kind of hard compared to the others. Had two infected ladybugs with it that crashed parts of my base faster than I could hunt them down. (Not complaining here, the fight was still fun.) Is that raid always much harder than the others, or should I prepare for stronger raids after the next chips?

No, the raids weren't triggered by the story. They are triggered by you murdering that species. As you kill more and more you will see messages that they are unhappy with you, and the message gets progressively worse as you kill more until it says something to the effect of "They want you gone" at which point a raid triggers.

The location of your base also matters, based on what insects' 'territory' you are in. Red Ants, for example, are more prone to getting angry with you where your base is at. Though you still do have to kill them, repeatedly, before a raid will start.

THose symbols you are mentioning are what I'm talking about, I miss them most of the time too. They aren't really in-your-face obvious though, which I figured is why. or maybe it's buggy and they just aren't always showing.

Your questions 3 and 4 aren't relevant, seeing as the chips have nothing to do with raids triggering.
The species that does the raid is based just on you killing that enemy type. The overall strength (quantity of enemies in the raid) is determined by your overall progress in the game and your gear, and also seems to be influenced by how often you've already been raided by that same species.

In my game, for example, I've been raided about 7 times total, and 6 of the 7 were orb-weaver raids. Because I kill spiders, mercilessly, any time I see one. The other raid was Larva, after I went on a larva killing spree.
I have not been raided by any other species, as I tend to jump around in terms of what I'm doing so never kill enough of the same type of enemy in short period of time to piss them off. I'm well past where you are in the game, and never have had any infected anything raid my base (yet). Probably because I never spend a lot of time in a row in the Haze killing things.

That's what I also found how the raids would work. I was just irritated because I couldn't remember any warning symbol showing up before. I thought that at least for the first raid maybe also some tutorial hint or something would pop up. Thats why I thought it might be raids that are triggert by the chip progress. Guess I just have to pay more attention to the symbols then. Is there any screenshot or video that shows where those symbols should appear? The only thing I found was "on the side of the screen", but I couldn't find any image that tells me where exactly I need to pay attention to.

Left side of the screen, above your health bar. Basically where the chat window is.
Since they tend to appear when you're in combat i'm not sure if they're bugged or if i'm just missing them most of the time either, but i've seen them a few times at least.

It's not like you really need them though since the cause and effect is so obvious - go on a X killing spree, expect X raid over the next couple of days.

In my experience raids mostly consist of standing around half the night and waiting for a handful of bugs to show up that may or may not come. About half the raids i've had nothing even showed up after the raid triggering interrupted me building or going to sleep. Really annoying.

I'm sure they can be challenging early game but once you're geared up they're mostly just tedious.

Ah, so it only pops up once. I thought its showing up all the time as long as the faction is enraged. That explains why I missed it all the time.

Sounds like the AI has trouble finding your base. My raids always arrive on time.

Thanks for the help!

Well yeah, that was the point of building off the ground. I'd at least expect to see them on said ground though, but i checked all around my base and there simply weren't any bugs. No marker where they're supposed to come from either.

A few minutes later i get a "payback delivered" message and the raid ends, but so far i haven't found anything destroyed either.

I have a small outpost in front of the shed. I completely cleared out the fire ant base under the lawn mower and they called a raid on my outpost. On the way there they had to go by the orb weaver hot spot to the right of the walkway, and the orb weavers cleaned them out for me. It said base defense successful and I never had to kill 1.

For me, the first two raids I had was a single insect (Orb Weaver). The third was the larva, and two actually showed up...

They have ramped up though, yesterday Orb Weavers raided me and there was a total of 3 or 4 Orb Weavers and 5 Orb Weaver Jrs before the raid was over. I'm not sure on the total of the Orb Weavers because one of them just completely vanished while I was fighting it, It jumped up into the air and then was *poof* gone. I don't know if one of the ones that I killed after was the same one re-appearing or a different one.

My main base is elevated, but it has a foundation of walls and a few bridges, and I have a lot of storage of pallets and pet houses on the ground outside at ground level, so the raids always successfully reach me and do a little structural damage.
