Best Enhancement
Does anybody have a guide on what the best enhancement is for each weapon? I'm starting to get my Tier III stuff and wanna make sure I put the right enhancement on each weapon for the maximum damage against the widest variety of insects.

sour hammer, bow is just bow, I use spicy on dagger and axe because spicy works against a lot of mobs and you have your axe out often, salt on spear (which I don't throw because they get lost under things etc), There's a mint mace you'll get that takes care of most of the mint mobs. I don't personally use anything with just straight mighty.

I'm sure sour hammer is the only thing on my list most people will agree with, so take everything else with a grain of salt :zaglol:

I like using spears so I made a salty and fresh version.

Hammers = what Ding Chavez said

For spicy I just use the Coaltana since it comes with spicy.

Stuff that counts as generic damage such as the Broodmother Club I just went with mighty to get more damage out of it.

Bows = don't really use much other than shooting the twinkling bugs with bomb arrows

No sure why people are recommending busting + sour. There's less than a handful of mobs that are weak to busting + sour (mainly machines which are the least encountered enemy in the game), whereas the more "important" mobs are weak to busting + salty (Roly Poly, Black Ox Beetle, etc.).

Is there really not a specific "best in slot" enhancement for each weapon class? 😕

Now that I'm upgrading my Tier III stuff I really wanna know what I should be putting on my axes, what should I put on my maces and what should I put on my spears, Ect.

Here's my personal breakdown just based on the current weaknesses for late game that I mapped out on a spreadsheet:

Axe + Spicy
You'll get the most value out of spicy for spider farming. Although there are a fair amount weak to chopping + fresh, the majority to this combination are flying critters and you're better off just tanking hits and downing them with stabbing + fresh (bows/crossbows).

Mace + Fresh
Most value versus high armored bugs (Ladybug, Roly Poly, etc). You get this standard with Mint Mace.

Hammer + Salty
Most value versus Beetles late game.

Sword (Slashing)
There is no real dominate upgrade for this.

Sword (Stabbing) + Salty
Good for termite farming, but you can also get by with the Salt Morning Star.

When in doubt, either go with Fresh or Spicy as the vast majority of critters are weak to these.

Yea after playing through on Woah! difficulty I don't think the Black Ox Hammer + Sour is worthwhile. I'd rather use the Sour Staff or Sour Arrows especially during a certain boss fight where going melee can be a bit difficult and then upon said boss' defeat you gain access to a really good sour weapon.

Since the Mint Mace has Fresh, what should I put on the Club of the Mother Demon? Fresh also, or would that be a waste?

If you plan to use Mint Mace, yes, it'd be a waste to put fresh on it as well. The weapon type is "generic" so it's pretty much up to you. Personally, I'd either go spicy or salty with preference to spicy since more enemies are weak to it.

Spears are stabby, so should I put salt on them too?

the idea for me is to bring less tools as possible. so I have Black ox bow flavored arrows and the shovel, hammer, and axe. now if you tie one candy to each, you don't need the flavored arrows. armor I "slim" everything that I can. for the extras.

Spears are a bit of the oddball since it is also an underwater weapon. Early underwater mobs are weak vs. salty, however the late game one is weak to sour.

Salty Spear = good for termites, early water mobs
Sour Spear = good for spiny water fleas (who become a real PITA later)

If you can swing it, make one of each and take whichever one out based on whatever you're planning to go kill.

EDIT: If you're not concerned with early game mobs, just make a sour spear. For termites, you can always use another salty weapon.

Agreed on this. For armor upgrades, always take the upgrade that gives a passive. You'll never notice that missing 5% per rank and additional passive effects are always a benefit.

What's the best enhancement for the Scythe of Blossoms, Antlion Greatsword, Fire Ant Club and Tick Macuahuitl?

I already have the following weapons enhanced to their max.

Acid Edge (Sour of course)
Mint Mace (Fresh of course)
Salt Morning Star (Salty of course)
Widow Dagger (Spicy)
Club of the Mother Demon (Sour)
Rusty Spear (Salty)
Toenail Scimitar (Fresh)
Toenail Scimitar (Salty)
Tiger Mosquito Rapier (Salty)
Termite Axe (Spicy)
Black Ox Hammer (Salty)
