Most games wont allow it for the simple reason using mods could circumvent the intended game play loop to get the achievements which, even in single player, 'cheapen' them when comparing in-game accomplishments with others (and don't lie, everyone after achievements looks at what percentage has got what achievement).
It would suck if mods can disable them. One guy wrote they're not disabling them but i'm not sure.
Modding helps keep continued interest in non-competitive games.
@Nekogod, you're right. I also installed QoL mod and Remote Storage mod, and I got two achievements so luckily they didn't disabled achievements for modded games.
hmm you should not get achievements in custom mode, does the mod enable that?
Edit: Mod or no mod I was unable to get the 'aim small' achievement so it seems the mod does not enable achievements and custom mode doesn't disable every achievement only most.
I think that achievement is hit or miss especially in MP.
One day I shot at least 20 gnats well passed the distance needed to get the achievement and it never popped up for me. Try again the next day and got the achievement with the first gnat I shot.
Monster hunter Rise has an achievement, for instance, that requires hunting 1000 "large monsters". People download mods that let them one shot monsters to farm it, making the achievement not rare and basically useless for people actively going for achievements.
They are called achievements for a reason, modding (basically cheating), kind of rules out the "achievement" part of getting the little icons finished lol.
I cudnt care less, personally.
Edit: Didnt mean to seem aggressive, just a bit off a /rant.
They provide all those great custom options yet we are locked of achievements for playing in those settings. As if Godmode was any different than playing on Mild...
I just want my pet invincibility ffs...
Achievements for me are a personal thing I know whether I feel I've earned it or not and I don't care if other people did or not, doesn't take away from what I've done.
Edit: Did a bit more testing, mods definitely do not affect achievements. And despite what the games says it is indeed possible to get some achievements in custom and creative. I got underdeveloped in custom and lounging around in creative. None of the crafting or killing achievements are being granted though so it appears to only be the ones that are not affected by the difficulty settings of the game.
