Is pupa hide bugged?
Despite exploding into several chunks that all flash like all other pickables, I only get 1 hide per pupa. The rest melt into the ground right away. Sometimes I dont get any hide at all. Is this intended?

Gonna just put a pin here because I've been wondering roughly the same. I see a bunch of chunks when it explodes, but always seem to get 0-2, with the general average being just the 1 per pupa.

Though it seems like a lot of the later game resources drop in small amounts overall, at least until you find or gain access to better locations for them (like trying to farm lint before undershed, or how rusty nails only give like 1-3 rust but that's the easiest rust to find at first)

The same thing happens with Sap clusters that you hammer down. Once you break it open 12-15 fall but most disappear and you are left with 5-7. At this point seeing it with the pupa hides, i'm wondering if it is intentional.

I absolutely hate this mechanic since you have to stand there for two seconds waiting for the fake resources to animate away to figure out which one you can pick up. I really wish the devs would either remove it or make the particle effects use a different mesh than the resource. Super super annoying.

It'd be a lot easier if only the persisting chunks gave the "flash" that resources you can pick up do. I always end up madly spamming pick up after cracking anything, and pupa hides scatter a bit, so madly clicking on a flashing thing that just melts into the ground is a layer of frustration I'd not yet sampled.

I never had a case of no-drop at all, as long as I remember, it always gives either 1 or 2. Rough estimate is that when I find 3 pupa hides together, they give 5 chunks combined.

I think it's intentional, just like when you crack pebbles or marble...

Welcome to Obsidian's idea of giving you no resources, to make their games feel longer. Of course, everyone thinks this is great, and will attack you if you say otherwise. Oh the joys of killing an Ox Beetle, just for a single part.

i dont mind killing multiple insects for parts,i want the gold card aswell haha
but i can understand if people are upset about this.

It sucks when you're playing multiplayer. Trying to get everyone fitted with the upgraded axes and mallets is torture. Specially getting upgrade mats for everyone.

playing multiplayer aswell, but aslong u wanna rush stuff it feels bad, thats why i can understand, but for me and my friend no problem we like to just chill, explore and play the game,as long u have the recipes to craft the stones to upgrade its fine just murder everything

It's just a visual thing. Happens with other things too. Wish i could turn it off tbh.

Ironically enough it wasn't always like that - in the earlier EA builds destroying a resource node only dropped the stuff you can pick up without the extra particles.

It was only "improved" to its current state later on.

These are the small tricks of a dev that thinks the game needs more filler. It's pretty bad and insulting with the pupa hide tho. Not so much with the other stuff.

YES

It sucks having all of them flash and then melt away so that I have to search around for the real drop after the fake ones melt.

Rust is the worst. It's texture blends with the ground so much that I always have a hard time finding it after hammering...

The rust pieces always spawn at the head of a screw or nail. Knowing that makes it much easier.
