Whether or not it will make a good crit build I do not know, but I do know it is fun throwing spears at stuff and having fun is my priority.
Often times the non meta builds are the most enjoyable, at least to me. This is not a competitive game, shaving .01 seconds off your TTK does not matter and as @ChinoValley writes "..do what you like and go with it."
Nothing against min/max BiS players as it is what they enjoy, but for the staunch adherents of that style they all tend to end up looking/building the same characters. Just not my thing.
I personally have more fun making 'non optimal' gear work in games; a nice challenge.
So be different and play what you enjoy.
you guys got nerfed?
Also one thing to note, Tier 3 weapons deal much more dmg naturally, and not only because their damage bar is filled up more, but because a single bar of damage is worth more than that of a lesser tier weapon! Same goes for armor presumably. It's never worth it to use a lesser tier, unless for the fun / personal preference factor of course.
5% from Coup De Grass Phase 2
1% from Thor's Pendant (also adds 10% crit damage)
? from Spider Slider (consumable made with Cookery)
? from Stinger Spear (1% rumor) (Also a tier 2 weapon so will not deal the same damage as any tier 3 even with the same bar length)
? Crit After Block affect from Black Ant Armor (another tier 2 equipment, and only occurs after blocking, not parrying - not sure what %)
Another mutation would be Trapper Peep R which increases your crit damage 20%, 40% and 60% depending on its level.
While the damage is significant, you would only get somewhere around 10% +/- 5% (depending on spear, spider slider and Black Ant blocking crit chance increases) chance to crit at all with all of these effects stacked.
Not worth it, imo.
Spider Slider gives 5% crit.
One interesting thing I would like to add about the Black Ant set, is that the % from each piece is not additive, which means you will only get +1% crit at max, EVEN IF one is wearing the full set.
What happens is each piece gives a chance to increase % crit. Every time you block, each piece flips a coin. If one of them happens to be the right face, you get the buff, but it does not stack. It will only refresh itself.
Edit/Edit: It is confirmed to be working this way.
"I finished testing stuff in game.
Crit doesn't stack with itself from the same source. Tested Black Ant Armor's crit buff on blocking (no unique tags), procs only refresh the duration and don't add more crit.
Regeneration doesn't stack with itself from the same source. Tested Lady Bug Armor regeneration on block (no unique tags), procs just refresh the duration and not the amount healed."

I don't agree with that statement, at least part of it.... Tier- 3 armor, on paper, should be more durable than Tier-2 armor, correct? Well, not as far as I can tell. I've found that all Tier-3 armor will degrade in durability at a faster rate than a set of Tier-2 Ladybug armor would. (Same upgrade level) I can wear Ladybug armor for days on end before needing to repair it, but the same can't be said about any of the Tier-3 armor sets. How do you square this?
For instance, Widow armor has 80 durability / piece while Ladybug and Roly Poly boast the maximum with 100 Durability. As a comparison, the Acorn set also has 80 durability.

Honestly, anything with 70+ durability will last you for a very very long time, ever since we got that sweet doubled durability buff recently.
