Ways to transport heavy objects
I decided to rebuild my base on top of a safe area that REQUIRES me to use a ladder to get to. I found out, the hard and dumb way, that you can't climb ladders with any items that use two hands like grass planks. Besides making stairs, which also invite ants and mites into my base, is there any other way that I could transport grass, weed planks, or any other building materials that use two hands into my base? I didn't play much of the EA so I didn't explore much, but now that the game is fully released I'm having a blast! Except for the whole "can't carry two-handed items up a ladder" thing. I do have zip lines unlocked but that would mean having a higher point to which I would zip line the objects down into my base, and if I'm having troubles before this idea then I'm gonna have even more trouble if I did decide to implement that idea. Though I guess I could make a platform that's higher than my base, with stairs, and a distance from my base as a sort of launching area to zip line the planks into my base. Anyone have any other ideas?

i just make acorn spiral stair cases. i even timed it and it's faster to run up the stairs then climb the ladder. i feel like ladders are a little short sighted as you require a stem to build them but you can't carry a stem up to build it. the only other solutions i have is what you have guessed. send them over on another zip line. but really the acorn spiral stairs seems simpler. it's possible i missed something though

Use bounce web elevator. You can carry stems and planks while jumping on bounce webs. You can even relocate a whole stem pallet while using bounce web elevators.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

OMFG THAT IS SO GENIUS!!! THANK YOU! this also answers my question about how to traverse yard levels easier.

Can agree, been using bounce's to get mass materials high - since they were introduced in EA.

But I will also state that using stairs work too. But I had to devise a trick.
You just need to leave a small gap somewhere in the set.
But small enough you can jump it while loaded.
Then right at the break, build a grass/stem door.
(you can get much more advanced than this, but we all start somewhere with tricks)
Now the proud owner of gated stairs. :steamhappy:

Building Bouncy's high right now, is a PITA with the game-freezing going on right now.

You can make pallets, put it at the base of your ladder, start climbing the ladder, then focus the pallet and press "F" to relocate. This will allow you to climb the ladder and place the pallet somewhere at the top and all the planks/stems on that pallet will relocate with the pallet itself. That's how I move planks/stems up ladders. It can be done. :)

If you need an easy way to traverse the yard, and don't have zip lines, etc, available...
Stockpile 3 or 4 pallets of grass(use mutations to help/speed, if avail)
Use 2pc flat Grass Roof, and start building from end-to-end.

Some advice...
-Make sure you have a good lineup on your direction before building.
-Build high enough, that you don't need to worry about spider/acid/fire/poison shots.
Because, it doesn't take much damage to ruin.
If a piece 'fails', your entire bridge system is going down from end-to-end(most of the time).
But it's cheap, and easy to make early on.

I'll share kind of a screenie of what I mean, but it's a Dev oopsy they left in. Oops.

Elevators are neat and all that, but if all you want to do is get pallets up a ladder, then just use the relocate option that I noted in my previous post. Don't need to build a lot more stuff to make this work, but zip lines and elevators are useful if you need them. If you don't, just use the Relocate function for a pallet while on the ladder, climb to the top and place the pallet. Problem solved.
