Gnat Inventory

I started a new game on PTS and the first time I killed a group of gnats around the Oak Tree light they all seemed to drop Grub Hides and Sludge. I ended up with over 100 Sludge and half that in Hides. I hadn't made a shovel yet, let alone dug up any grubs, so it's not like they were looting something I left behind.

Anyone else had this?
