From what I experienced the bugs attack whatever you created that is between you and them. I created random patterned palisade walls with spike traps on both sides and pulled creatures to their deaths repeatedly.

An update or so ago had orb weavers climbing things but only specific areas, but this recent update it seems to be temp removed. Don't know if it'll return. We have jumping bugs so far.

ok but what does that have to do with this

i doubt they will add climbing bugs because then having base walls would be pointless if spiders can just climb up and over them, i think there is a mix of realism and fantasy in this game, and making the creatures climb wouldnt really work, unless they can make them climb rocks, logs, sticks, but our base walls are safe

yeah if they could climb walls just not built walls that would be cool

EDIT: like what you were saying, rocks, logs, sticks, etc. but not base walls

trust me, with the jumping i've already experienced a wolf spider inside of my base. Don't need that more often.

Interesting, very interesting, how likely would you recommmend the new Iwolf model of the wolf spider that easily visits you inside your base to see how your doing and if you needed any help with becoming unalive at that moment?

uhh 3. Don't like how he tried and succeeded at killing me several times, but the venom and spider fangs were well worth it!

yeah our base does pretty well though, it only got in the base cause i kinda shot it in the face and it got mad, then realized i was doomed and ran back to my base.

which lead it to jump into it.

Since the player is tiny just like the bugs, then when we kill certain bugs we should be able to build wall climbing gear? Since we're lightweight just like the bugs, there should also be no fall damage and climbing should be easy with right equipment. Ants can fall for an eternity and never get harmed irl.

I was thinking that reward for killing the upcoming black widow could be where full set makes you able to climb.

Other idea is using silk and some other parts, you can make a grappling hook which you can hang and swing from, and maybe also pull you up.

Grappling hooks would be nice too. I would guess that it would have to be a more mid/late game recipe since silk is easily obtainable early on. Also ladders need to allow you to haul stuff up while climbing because it's completely useless while building towers without the ability to haul stuff up.

Sadly the spike traps have the health of a gnat. They break way too fast. I think they need a serious buff.

I think they should make it to where spikes don't take damage unless they're attacked directly, increase the crafting cost to balance this, as well as make it a higher tier item to unlock. It's already bad enough many bugs just can walk right over them and take very little damage. Spiders don't even seem to care honestly.

Spike Strips are doing their job though, a placebo effect to make you "feel" safe, akin to climbing into a tank that looks like it's made of titanium but really it's made of single ply 30 cent dollar store cardboard. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

(Honestly i've only placed spike strips against the 3 sealed walls of the oak tree i built to keep the 2-3 wolf spiders under the tree stuck under the tree, do the spike strips work? probably not, do the barricaded walls keep the spiders in? probably not... does it help with my paranoia of turning a corner and kissing the lips of a wolf spider and seeing the iris's of those giant red eyes, your Damn right it does help.)
