You can't really spam it as it uses up stamina. You only get a few shots and then have to wait for your stamina to regenerate.
The damage is based on the arrow type you use, the location you hit the target, and the critical chance.
Not much difference than the melee weapons. Each swing uses stamina and again, the weapon type being used vs the location you hit them.
Each enemy has a weak spot and a weapon/arrow type that they are vulnerable to.
I haven't seen anything in Grounded that suggests this mechanic exists, allowing you to spam click shots (as long as you have stamina), but I thought I'd ask just to be sure.
So, you do not have to hold the attack button down to fully draw back the bow. But just spamming the button does not really work either.
The bow goes through a complete animation for a full draw before it fires. So spamming the button only allows you to shoot as fast as the animation takes, and then it fires. This results in a shot that is not accurate, unless you are not moving, and the target is more or less stationary.
Most of the enemy are fast, or always on the move. Also once you land a hit, they will start moving.
It works much better to hold the attack button, then let the animation play through to full draw, then adjust aim as needed and release. This has no effect on damage though. Just allows you more time to aim.
The arrows do have a drop to their trajectory and you have to compensate.
Like my previous post, the damage comes from the arrow type, target hit location, and weak points. Then the RNG based on the critical hit chance.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the responses.
