Mossy key missing?

mossy key wasnt in my current save file, even tho the chest is closed again. so its safe to assume the other keys ive gathered are missing too.. should i just start over?

Dont know exactly but I made a new savefile this current patch and the key was there. Didnt check my "Into the woods" file though.

I'm new but does it consume the key? i thought they were considered key items (pun not intended.) even if they only have one use the entire game?

I run thru this game so fast I forget much, but I think I just ran over and grabbed them again.
They made us redo the whole story line so I got drunk and ran it one day. I remember having to swim to the back of the sand box for that key, and swimming down to get the sunken key in the pond.
