Not connected to workbench?

How do I solve when all my chest does not seem to connect to my workbench?? It does this very often :/

is it close to the workbench?
did you stand close to the chests?
you have to place them close enough to the workbench and also you have to stand close to your chests, for example if you place all your chests on the left side of your workbench and you access your workbench from the right side there's a chance that the chests isn't connected to you so you have to move to the left in order to make them connect to you and your workbench.

I will see if I can fiddle with it but it seems very odd

i had this issue twice, once i juve moved everything (very slightly, just to "reset" it)
the second time i saved/exit then when i got back in it fixed

I just pick out the materials i need. Never found a need for them to be connected.

If you have a base built you can use the half floors as shelves to hold the chests, this lets you keep them close to the worktable, also lets you keep everything organized better in smaller spaces, right setup and you can auto pull with all other crafting stations.

I always just grabbed the supplies I needed before the craft, but my storage area has about 200 chests in it. Try moving the work bench and see if it changes. If not then try moving the chest. It's likely one of the 2 placement. Put down a second chest and see if it is accessible to the crafting station to narrow if it is the storage or the station that's the problem.

You can place a clay ramp against one of your walls, then place a floor on the ramp, then remove the ramp. You can extend the floor as far as you want and this allows double the placement of storage chests for any given area.
