Edit to add, that apparently the Simple Bed also restores more Health when you sleep than a Lean-to does.
But normally i never sleep since it heals up my HP but also empties the hunger and thirst meter. So that's not a benefit.
Lean-to's just heal you and nothing else, so lean-to's are so-so.
You realize that over the 8 hours that you would have slept, your thirst and hunger also go down....right? You can't count something that happens whether you sleep or not as a down-side to sleeping.
- passing the night if you don't like playing in the dark because it's hard to see and annoying to have to have torches all the time
- avoiding nocturnal insects like wolf spiders that roam more often at night
the food /thirst drop is negligible because you'll lose that over time during the night anyways, and it's not that hard to kill an aphid or weevil and cook it to fill up again
Then you can empty them, load them up again and go do whatever through the day and they'll be finished when you come back.
Also spawns new dew drops on dew catchers and grass/leaves, new acorns and so on. And generally counts against respawn timers of course.
