Do dew collectors not work in the Sandbox?

I built a dew collector next to my new Sandbox outpost at 9 am (game time) and it still has 0 dew at sunset. Do the dew collectors just not work at all in the Sandbox? Or do I maybe need to cover it so it's in the shade? Or is this dew collector just glitched?

I could be remembering wrong. but I think you either need to sleep, or go far enough away to let them spawn.

I (from what I know) dont think they spawn when you are right next to them. also i believe the dew drops form in the morning time, like Dew in real life.

I have been awful close to it, seeing as I was working on building the base. I'll check it again tomorrow morning (both in game and real life). Thanks for the response!

no problem, I could be wrong of course. but Ive always noticed them getting filled up right after sleeping or when I return to my base.

In my experience dew collectors need a day or two to get going. You normally don’t see any that same day they are built.

Ahh, okay, that would explain it, @pcdeltalink. I have built quite a few of them, but this is the first time I actually needed a drink from one the same day that I built it, so I just never noticed that.

Being on Whoa this time around I’ve noticed it more than usual, lol.

I returned to the sandbox outpost now, 2 days later and the collector had 3 drops on it. So, it definitely does work there....but it seems like it is generating the drops slower than elsewhere. I've never before had a dew collector not have a full 4 drops after 24 game hours passed.

The daytime heat from the sandbox could be a factor in the slow generating rate.
