Lil fist mutation broken?

I punshed alot of creatures to their afterlife, but I dont unlock the Lil fist mutation.
wiki and internet says 40kills with fists for phase 1... but I for sure have more than 40 and no mutation. Please help

Do you have "Truffle Tussle" active? Maybe if the explosion from that kills them while fighting unarmed it does not count as a fist attack for Lil Fist.

I'm just spitballing, I don't know. I am interested in the answer though, seeing as I plan to eventually work on unlocking Lil Fist myself.

ok there must be something broken with the tracking of the mutation progress.
I killed way more than hundred 200 after unlocking Lil fist (lvl1). for about the last 100 i stopped using truffle tussle aswell as any trinket. still no progress...

I manually kept track thats how I know I have more than 200 after unlocking Lil fist. I stopped counting.

Is the progress broken or deleted after loading last save?

Nah I have definitely killed at least 50 things with my fists and I haven't unlocked the phase 1 of it in a new full release world. It's definitely broken.

I have phase 2 of lil fist, been trying for phase 3 for a while now...

I use truffle tussle and assassin mutations (assassin allowed via power droplet) as well as sleek mask of the mother demon (adds poison). I'm beginning to suspect that if the damage that does the killing blow isn't the punch itself, then it's not counted towards lil fist.

In fact, I unlocked the barbarian mutation using fists because I think maybe the explosion damage from truffle tussle might be considered club damage: https://steamcommunity.com/app/962130/discussions/0/3644000310593196431/

I did a test. Removed assassin, truffle tussle, and broodmother helm so I wouldn't do any extra damage, Did a lawn mite run, got phase 3 of lil fist. /shrug

Since we aren't shown mutation kill count progress, my test isn't exactly conclusive. I could have just been close enough to get it regardless, but I've been on phase 2 for many game days, killing tons of bugs, all fights with fists (including black widows) and now I get phase 3 on a red mite run after removing extra damage. Compelling...

yeah it looks like anything that adds different dmg to your killing blow, can mess with your progress in different mutations.

I think, after removing trinket it still doesnt track, and you have to restart game.
I'm also not sure, if there are trinkets that dont add different dmg, but still block your progress... (Hard to track, if you already reached lvl one and need 100 for 2nd...)
