Just go about your business and keep killing them as you run into them. I think i've gotten four or five by now just by killing the larva that attack me while i do other stuff.

Haven't had any luck on the candy trinkets though.

I'm at around 30 as well and haven't seen one. I've destroyed 5 or 6 stacks of 15 glands as well just to still have room.

I didn't even know what it was when I got it. Just thought it was another larva head. Didn't realize until later that it was twinkling and even then didn't realize I could equip it. Thing was sitting in a chest for the last couple of days. I have killed at most a dozen of the lava larva guys or whatever they're called. Must have got lucky.

I did hear that getting the Mantis trinket is insane. Someone said they did the Mantis boss upwards of 100 times and didn't get it. Exaggeration? Probably, but not a grind I'm excited for.

I'm at about 50 larva now and no trinket, and yes I'm killing the ladybird larva.

i got one super early, but its the ONLY drop trinket i've gotten. been choppign down hotdogs for the billy hog one and harvesting mint/spicy/sour without any luck

I got lucky on the fungal charm yesterday after killing the infected wolf spider in the moldorc highlands and harvesting the fungus node there (there's a sour candy spawning in the little berry bush).

Still no candy charms despite going out of my way to farm them (did the salt burrow alone four times with nothing to show for it).

I also did both the broodmother and mantis fights 5 times each and got neither of theirs.

On the other hand i now got my seventh insulating larva spike, so if we ever get the option to trade those in i'm golden.

Are you killing ladybird larvas?

The trinked looks like its actually its headpart.

I am more than positive that I got mine from termites, because I got it right before fighting the king.

So you don't NEED to farm the ladybirds, you can go into the log pile and just absolutely take on the entire nest of termites.

Edit: I went to the wiki to see why you would farm the ladybird larva, and despite what the wiki says, you can absolutely get it from termites.

^ This. Find the ladybird larva underground tunnel. It is pretty dangerous as there are a ton of them in groups down there but I had 3 trinkets before I was even 1/2 way through the tunnel. My best advice is using the crow crossbow and sprinting backwards - 4-5 shots and they'll die one at a time.

A fresh rusty spear absolutely slaughters ladybird larva. If you have it at level 7 or 8 and use javelineer you can even oneshot them with a throw.

Ant Lion armor, Fresh Defense mutation, Quesadillantlion meal all also provide sizzle protection.
I was able to get enough charcoal to make a couple of ovens just with the Mutation, ducking in and out really quickly going after just the chunks at the edge. But it hurt.
