Recommended order to go after Burg.L chips?
I read a post yesterday where someone advised going to the Red Anthill before the hedge lab. This makes a lot of sense, in terms of progression. It's not, however, how the game itself is 'guiding' you, so as a new player I had not thought of that.

Just wondering if there's any veteran's of Early Access who would be willing to chime in with like a recommended order for locations for the whole game?

A lot of us are new, and some of us are struggling with just how difficult the harder bugs can be early game, so a good progression order guideline would be helpful.

(Note, I say 'struggling' but I mean it in a good way. The game provides some challenge, which is a nice change of pace imo compared to a lot of games these days).

@Plake, thank you so much for the response.

I'm really mainly looking for 'guidelines' so any response at all from someone with an informed opinion is most useful.

I'm not using guides or walkthroughs or anything, so I still have to just randomly explore to find places, but at least I know if I find a PoI for "The Woodpile", for example, this early in the game....I probably shouldn't go inside yet. Haha
The Red Anthill chip is only a lower chip.

Im going for the pond chip first because i love diving and its easy to get. Only some small robots protecting that lab.

But you can do it like you want. The cool thing is you are not forced to get the chip in a special order.

@Graf Schokola, I was afraid to go into the Pond yet, this early in the game. I tadpole peeped at me and I ran away fast, not sure if it would eat me or not. Haha

Can you go diving before getting any of the gear that is specifically for diving?
You can, but you won't get far... You need at least fin flops and the basic breathing tube (forgot the name) imo.
Drowning is one of my biggest fears so I tend to overprepare for the pond lab, but yeah you need some basic diving gear and a couple underwater lanterns at least. One useful tip: killing some of the underwater bugs refills your oxygen meter when you collect their parts ;)
Good tip @VAnadeis! And you need specific weapons to fight underwater, right? You can't just swing any ol' weapon?

Yeah, although the pebble spear *does* work underwater if you have nothing else. It's slow though, so it's only until you can get something suited for underwater combat. These aren't too hard to get, you just need to go down....way down :P (trying my best not to spoil stuff for you here)
Thank you for avoiding direct spoilers.

How about that rotten dagger uh...the one you find over by the fallen log with all the mites? I got that already. It doesn't do a ton of damage, but I think it works underwater?

You get the diving gear in the pond. Diving without the gear is possible but you need a good timing.
I also completed subnautica (ocean world survival game with very deep, dark and scary places) without using submarines as diving vehicles.

I...actually don't know. But I don't think so. Try it and let me know? I'm mildly curious but not enough to go find it / craft a new one XD
It's the same as the tier 1 dagger that poisons that you can craft. I just don't remember the name of the craftable one.

At least until right before v1.0 the only weapons that actually worked (effectively) underwater were the daggers, Stinger speer and normal speer... Didn't know there is also a rotten version, thx for the pointer =)

The game guides you to the ant hill and hedge lab starting out. Burgl gives you two options. Go after the super chip and daily raw science quests. About the in less than 6 quests should turn up a quest to go to the ant hill.

After that burgl gives you the next best place to go.
