Recommended order to go after Burg.L chips?
I read a post yesterday where someone advised going to the Red Anthill before the hedge lab. This makes a lot of sense, in terms of progression. It's not, however, how the game itself is 'guiding' you, so as a new player I had not thought of that.

Just wondering if there's any veteran's of Early Access who would be willing to chime in with like a recommended order for locations for the whole game?

A lot of us are new, and some of us are struggling with just how difficult the harder bugs can be early game, so a good progression order guideline would be helpful.

(Note, I say 'struggling' but I mean it in a good way. The game provides some challenge, which is a nice change of pace imo compared to a lot of games these days).

Which chip gives you the recipe for being able to craft the higher tier stones yourself using bug parts? So far I can craft levels 1-5 stones by using larva spikes and sap, but I haven’t found the unlock so I can do 6-9 upgrades myself and I’m struggling to find enough rocks around the yard to upgrade that way
I actually go with the Pond first then hedge 2nd. I want to get the Muscle Sprouts ASAP since they're great for healing with smoothies. Also it seemed that the story started with the pond, but I dunno if it's because i did pond first or just turned in a super burgl chip.

Not sure what you mean with "the story started in the Pond" as the access to the Pond Lab was released (Dec 2020) when the Hedge lab already existed...

I did the pond first, and turned in burgl chip then went to sleep. Sleeping after turning in chip triggered a story cut scene. I don't know if this is the case for all chips since I haven't turned in hedge yet.

Also I focus on pond first since the map progression is clockwise, starting with the pond. So it's Pond, Hedge, Haze, Sand, and Wood. Can't speak for after wood but progression still seems to go clockwise. And since the castle is on top of the pond that seems to be the finish, you basically do a 360 in terms of progression and finish right back where you started.

Not to mention i also start my base right next to the juicebox at the pond. i do this because this location has a lot of the early resources needed nearby. Sap, Acorn, clay, all underwater resources, burgl lab, webs, stems, all types of grass, various foods sources, beetles, spiders, and a stinkbug. Pretty much everything early-mid-game is here.

If you look at the menu tab with all casette tapes and documents you picked up, there Hedge comes before Pond, so for me that's the way to progress. Luckkily this game give you freedom to choose the path you want. =)
Pond lab is definitely easier than the hedge lab. There's barely any fighting at all aside from a few robots (which are easy to kite if you're not good at melee) and one or two diving bell spiders which die easily enough to the bone dagger.

In addition to getting muscle sprouts the bone trident also makes for a good weapon until you get a stinger spear.
Since 1.0 it also gets you the toxicology badge, replacing the need for a gas mask.

Another "trick" is paying the black ants a visit before doing the haze lab, just to get the black ant sword (most infected are weak to slashing) and shield.

Map progression I don't mean by tapes. I mean if you look at the direction of the game, pond it just makes sense to start with pond. Plus like the guy above said its easier, plus you get trinket and you get muscle sprouts like I said in my 1st post. Doing pond first makes the hedge easier.

And like I said my base is near pond :).

I understand what you mean, but map progression is tied to unlocking data (and how the background story unfolds in them) imo, so just wantes to point out that I don't believe map progression is like the way you play.
Also: for the Pond you need extra gear, while for the hedge you don't (I also find the hedge easier personally).
Again: no way is the "only" way

All the extra gear you need for the pond is crafted with pond drops, so it's really the same effort no matter when you do it. It also requires zero fighting to get some pretty decent gear.

It's basically "craft a gill tube and fin flops, use them to get sunken bones, craft bubble helmet, gather more sunken bones and koi scales for armor. And pick up the rotten stinger spear while you're at it".
Not exactly a lot of effort there.

You can do hedge first, but it doesn't actually make the other labs easier. Pond does.

Hedge benefits quite a bit from getting beefy smoothies and a few easy t2 weapons and armor from the pond first. Koi armor can be gotten without doing any fighting at all and is a big upgrade over acorn if you're at least semi-competent at blocking.
The bone dagger also lets you access quite a few previously unreachable milk molars.

I dunno, I have to disagree there. I got a lot of materials from egg sacs going to, and inside of, the Hedge Lab. Those materials got me the Insect Axe as well as some better armor.

Someone who played the game more in Early Access, and went out of their way to get those same ingredients before the hedge lab would have a different experience, but for a newer player just following the pointers the game's story provides, the hedge lab definitely has things to make the other labs easier.

Sure, but you don't get them without fighting.

The reason going hedge first doesn't really make pond easier is that there's barely any fighting in the pond lab at all - as i said you have to kill maybe a diving bell spider (though you can just outswim them with fin flops) and 3 or 4 very slow robots - and none of the other gear you find in the hedge helps with underwater stuff, which is the main challenge of doing pond.

There's also nothing requiring a T2 axe or hammer to mine iirc. It's a simple, low danger lootgrab.

Hedge on the other hand is filled with spiders. That doesn't make it undoable, but you're going to be fighting quite a bit no matter what. And that's easier if you're already wearing t2 gear going in.

Yupp, agree. Egg sacks is why I go there first as well. And fighting spiders for eggs is easier then underwater bell spiders for accessing the moss key or one of the 3 switches imo.
Honestly, I find the idea of going to the Pond lab at all rather intimidating. (I have quite the fear of being underwater irl, so I'm sure that's part of it. Subnautica was a great game, but very hard for me to play).
