I guess Obsidian thinks it's sometime in the WAY early 90's because even some DOS games had dedicated servers. I was looking forward to this game until I started Googling and found this thread, unfortunate news.
Hopefully the find the time machine they need to add a feature that has been part of games for the better part of 25 years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Its not 'standard' anymore.
The year has nothing to do with it. If the year did have something to do with it then where is my flying car? I want my flying volkswagon bug.
Again year has nothing to do with anything. It's all about what the dev wishes to put into the game, and that is it.
its recommend to keep backups of all your savegames where you can and not just for ground.
Personally i keep my savegames backuped on a pindrive and yea i backup alot too and always keep my backups updated as much i can.
I understand that, but if I am not online and my friends are using the world they will have to remember to back up the save and I highly doubt my friends or even other people's friends will remember to do such a thing, since it's not a common thing that people do.
Not to mention the more shared the world is the more likely the issue will arise.
Shared worlds seems like too much risk & little to no reward.
They do not even resolve any of the issues that would be covered by a private dedicated server.
