Can't build on grass floors?

I just started, so maybe I'm missing something, but I built square scaffolds and put grass floors on them, yet I can't place objects on the grass floors? If I add a second story, I can add things just fine. Is the scaffolding bugged?

I think it's a bug from the update, I'm having the same issue and I'm on an already started play through. I can't place chests on the ground floor for some reason, even though I already have other chests down and they still work just fine.

Oh okay. I never played before the update, but I did see YT vids of people placing things on the ground floor, so I thought it was just me lol

Just started fresh on this patch and ran into the same issue trying to place storage chests. Can't place on either level. Haven't tried the roof yet. The water collector placed without issue on it early. I noticed I could see the chest above while trying to place it on the current floor. Using ctrl and finding a spot where it dropped to my level I could place it, but not where I wanted it. They might have added some additional building limits that aren't found until you try. Already noticed this trying to build stairs and clay foundations.

I used to build several clay foundations on the same plane on the rock next to the mystery machine. Now Only one foundation will work. Same on the big leaf next to it. I can build more but they don't snap to the first.
