Sleeping
The one thing I hate about this game is the sleep timer. You are getting ready to do some time consuming things and see it is 18:00. So you go to the bed to make it morning and no... you have to wait until 20:00 before you can. So you end up tabbing out of the game to do something else until you can sleep and make it morning. This is one big turn off to the game to me and I will wait and see if they change this before buying the game.

sleep is common in open world games. be happy that you can manual save and not just save when you sleep, which annoys me. in G, i tend to stack up materials during the day and build or craft at night before i sleep

that said, if you want to grab a torch and work all night... have fun. keep any eye out for wolf spiders tho.

also, as this is a core game mechanic and common in the genre, i wouldn't expect it to change

Actually all the survival games I play let you bring day when you want to sleep, The Forest, Valheim, Subnautica 1 and 2, Empyrion - Galactic Survival are just a few. So you are wrong when you say it is common that you have to wait until a certain time before you can sleep. This is the only game I found that makes you wait until night before you can sleep. I am not complaining that the game has a night. I am complaining that it makes you wait until a certain time to make it day again. As for the save comment I play on PC and all the games I listed above let you save anytime you want so I don't know what games you are playing.

The saves he is referring to are from games like Stardew Valley, My Time at Portia and other similar games from that genre where the game doesn’t save until you sleep for the night. It is common (and expected really) in games like those but this is not a farming game and does not have that same save type.

I also agree that we should be able to sleep whenever we feel like. Either get rid of the specific time mechanic or if it must be kept widen the range, say 4pm and on.

Agreed, one of the things I mentioned in my feedback post was to add sleeping whenever want to. To either night, or day. I don't understand the restriction, like....why? What value does it add? Its not like forcing us to wait another hour ingame really does anything.

i think that would be adding Easy gameplay, if they how ever added a sleep when ever you want, but only sleep for 6 hours at a time, that would make it more interesting.

Don't like evenings or night, how do you like a good early morning with darkness ?

Sleeping saves the game?

No, the game autosaves (every 5 min I think?) and you can manually save whenever you want.
HunterKiller Aug 3, 2021 @ 1:32am
OK, thanks. I wasn't sure and I really didn't think it did, anyway.
The Marathon Man Aug 3, 2021 @ 12:04pm
Yes, sleeping does do an autosave once, you wake up.

I just run around or look at crafting stuff or gather some supplies. you can always work on something. but i guess alt tabbing works as well/

I just tested it a bit ago. Saved the game, each time I slept.

wow big turn off, definitely a factor whether to buy the game or not. How long is 2 hours in game time... pretty sure its around 2 minutes

I think where a lot of these games go wrong, is they make time advance too quickly
Because of this when you see its 18:00 there isnt enough time to do anything *significant* and so you faff and shuffle your feet, basically waste time
I personally feel that these games that have days only 10-30 mins long also feel too fake (for me), i think they mostly do this to make it more of a challenge - by limiting your active time they force you to rush to get things done
I dislike this because i like to procrastinate in games, i like to stop and enjoy the scenery, the sunrises and sunsets, and i dislike it when i only get 8-18 minutes between sunrise and sunset
But i suspect most of my wishing here is because im old, and dont like to rush either at games, or at life, i like to smell the flowers, but young modern people (who im guessing is more the demographic for this and similar games) probably do like to do things in these short bursts, its the same mentality that wont watch a YT video because its more than 10 mins long
They also tend not to write thoughtful and considered posts, and prefer to make a short 5-10 word answer that can be misconstrued, misunderstood or not understood at all, which leads to more internet agression and arguments

If those 2 hours the OP speaks of actually lasted for 20 RL minutes, it would give you time to use them instead of just waste them

Your right, it is about 2 minutes. Now add those two minutes up over one session of play. With how fast day/night cycle is that adds up to a lot of time waiting and not playing the game. My play sessions are from 3 to 6 hours usually. That is a lot of wasted time.

After a while, once you get used to the game, night pretty much becomes an extension to day. At least, you'll eventually get to the point where you use nights doing exactly what you'd do during the day, building, crafting, hunting, collecting. Your eyes will eventually adjust to what the game looks like at night and learn where wolves tend to tread, so it's no longer a problem; so, there's eventually little more reason to sleep in the game.

In the mean time, find something to do during those 2 minutes if it's that much of an issue. There's plenty to do even with what little there is in the game at the moment.
