Question on Eyepatch+ and Marksman Cap
So, I'm playing on Whoa! difficulty with both the insect bow and crow crossbow [depends on what mobs im fighting] and full spider gear for the speed/stamina benefits... [yes know the aphid slippers are better for speed, but its a 1.1x vs a 1.2x as far as i know, and the spider set lets you run around for longer]

my question is, as soon as combat starts i switch to my Eye patch+ instead of the spider hood, and since the game is lacking any numerical data... i dont feel like the marksman cap is that better over the eye patch+ except for something like armor... i might be wrong.

Is there anyone with like numerical info about the damage buff to bows on the Marksman Cap, cause atm the eye patch+ feels better cause it also gives a damage buff, and on top of that an attack stamina boost.

Would appreciate some thought/info about this.

No hard numbers here, but i would expect specific boosts would be better than generic boosts. It feels like the generic attack boost is probably meant for melee weapons since bow damage is specified. Have you tested both with no mutations to see if one gives a better boost. I would suggest something bigger like a lady bug or beetle so it takes more than 2 or 3 hits.

I don't recall the exact numbers but iirc the cap is a little better for raw damage.
And the armor of course, though if you're wearing that and spider you can't really afford getting hit anyway.
I personally don't have issues with stamina with the cap + crossbow so i don't use the patch for ranged, but if it helps you i don't see why not. Mutations are more important anyway.

The eyepatch also works on melee weapons though and together with buff lungs lets you get an extra swing out of a mint mace. If you're good at blocking it's the best melee hat in the game by far.

i was really wondering if eye patch was worthwhile... i got clover, ant and acorn armor, and those aphid slippers I've unlocked a few other things i cant remember, don't think iv built anything else, got a crappy bow and a spear, which is also crappy...

The basic pebblet spear is actually pretty useful - as a thrown weapon.
Not something you carry all the time because they don't stack but if you need to kill a spider with T1 weapons they're surprisingly good at it.

The mats are also common enough that you can just have baskets full of them scattered around the yard and pick them up when you find yourself needing them.

my preferred way was just making a sprig bow, with like 80 arrows, and then cheesing the sleeping spider under the leaf at the oak tree on the ponds side.... and have a insect bow after like an hour of gameplay...

I've killed a few orb weavers under the oak, there is a spot with great science or wateva it called, the orb weavers follow you in there but glitch kinda so you can hit them but they cannot hit you. that spear i have not much luck with them, bc only thing I've killed with it is ants and weevil beetles, wolf spider outta my league,i can out run one short distance and make to cover, but i killed those orb weavers with the basic wood ax, seems better than the spear.

Yeah in melee the spear isn't very good. You should try a spiky sprig instead for serious early game fighting. There's a thistle plant near the baseball, you can see it if you stand on that.

As for wolf spiders it's all about learning to perfect block. They only have 3 or 4 attacks and all of them are very obviously telegraphed, so once you've learned them and the proper timing they're not that hard 1 on 1.

You can practice the timing on orb weavers, they're less likely to kill you if you have decent armor like acorn and some healing items and their attacks are very similar, the only one really unique to the wolf spider is the jump and the blocking window on that one is very generous (though it'll one-hit kill you through most armor even on normal).

A smoothie station. To discover it you need to analyze either acorn tops or grub goop iirc.
Bandages you should already have, they're unlocked by grass fiber but their healing is very slow.

The last option is Healbasa which is crafted from mosquito blood sacks and silk rope.
It's aoe so more intended for multiplayer and the mats required make it undesirable early game.
