stem walls are better than grass walls and once you get tier 2 axe husky weeds produce so much stems that stems are even easier to find than normal grass now.

This. Not only is there about 5000x the amount of grass in the yard vs weeds but weeds take longer to grow back and are slower to cut down.

That’s why stem walls are better in terms of durability, because it’s a scarcer resource that is harder to get a lot of rapidly or it may have to be carried in from far away.

You can't build foundations from grass, if you are not making foundations on your buildings I don't understand how your stuff holds together. The amount of Stems I waste on building ladders, bridges and blocking off Spider paths forced me to not upgrade walls from fortified grass wall for quite a while.

I'm building at the pond and there is a massive husky weed farm I just set up

at least 100+ stems per run it's crazy

I have more weeds than grass planks

There's indeed a ton of weeds around if you know where to look, though hardly as much as grass.
Also the fortified grass walls are sturdier than the pure weed stem ones anyway so the only reason to build with weed stem is aesthetics.

You can build foundations with clay and pebblets. Or just slap down some stairs and build off of that with normal floors.

Heck, you can usually jam a floor piece partway into a wall/ledge/whatever and build off of that too.

I have a grass shack with walls around it and I've fended off one big spider and dozens of ants. I keep killing & patching.

All the lower walls are grass doors, they hold up and I have all sorts of means to escape. You can stack 'em and run another wall outside of them close , too.

Also, there's grass all around the area to impede their attacks. I never cut the foliage around my base when building one.

My next one will be near or, across the pond from the oak tree.

unless you like being attacked, build high and the bugs can't reach your base.

plenty of sites around the map that you can build on. i NEVER have seen a bug attack one of my bases or patched any part of any base, and i have several bases

ground level bases can be made, you just have to invest into outer defence like a palisade that doesn't allow anything to approach the house physically.
