Is there a way to increase backpack/inventory space? or plans for such?
I recently started playing Grounded and I'm enjoying the game a lot. However, very quickly the player backpack/inventory fills up with tools, armor and stuff, begging the question: how do i increase inventory space?

after a search i found nothing, but I'll ask here in case i've missed something.

if the answer is NO, are there plans to include the ability to increase inventory space in the future?

If the answer to all of the above is NO, i respectfully suggest to any Dev reading this forum that a way for players to increase inventory would be very positive and should arguably be a priority.

I think it's safe to say that games in this genre almost always have a method to increase player inventory through some in game mechanic. tbh, i was surprised that i couldn't find it, given how thoughtful the present development of Grounded is.

after the player gets only a few of the available weapons, tools and armor, the starting inventory seems VERY small very quickly

There is no way to make the backpack bigger at least not yet a way i know of.
The best we can do is build a base and add storage in it to store stuff long-term.

The inventory is big enough for normal everyday usage. The main problem comes when you’re picking up items that don’t stack, such as raw meat. The somewhat recent change that has equipped weapons and armor not taking up inventory space was a huge improvement for those of us used to having them taking up space.

Honestly, you should only have 2 sets of armor on you at once at the most depending on what you’re doing. Other than that focus on harvesting certain items per trip out of your base and not gathering everything. For example, first trip focus on combat drops, second trip can focus on clover, sprigs, etc. stuff like this can really make a difference in the long term.

yeah, the good news is that you can build unlimited storage, not only in your base but anywhere. afaik

as thoughtfully designed as this game is, it seems rather odd that the Dev haven't already included a mechanic to increase player inventory

The backpack is large enough, or you can carry the parts necessary for a storage chest. I have several scattered about. Just don't use the storage container (small, looks like a thimble) because it will attract bugs if you place edibles inside.

Even without bugs I believe stuff can just fall out of those containers as well iirc.

I've never had that problem. I have a dozen in my large base, 3 in my medium base, and 3 in my tiny base. Never lost anything.

the small storage containers are certainly easier to make with more common components

Small are fine, but NEVER put food of any kind in them. You will have ants beating at your walls forever. Why yes, I learned that by experience. Why do you ask? :steamfacepalm:

The solution is to build the food storage where they can't reach it then, somewhere off the ground.

Once you get to the oak tree the chest is easy to build. All mine are chests, of course, my big base is on one of its limbs/roots. And they don't react to food in chest, only the smaller containers.

Same, my base is also on the upper roots of the tree. I do notice though that gnats somehow still steal things on occasion. No idea how they are actually getting to my chests but they are.

Looks like it to me. Old style, really sharp points, like 60's vintage. Never made sense. I will have to off a few and see if some of my gear drops.
