are some wolf spiders programmed to pop out of nowhere?

several times now i had wolf spiders attack me from behind out of nowhere and I never heard them coming

Nope, when they come across your trail they follow it till they find you. And I think most of the spiders make too much noise really, If you've ever watched a spider hunt, it's dead quiet.

well they dont have vocal chords of any sort IRL so they are incapable of making noises, which is something games and movies get wrong all the time.

That was cool, looked up a youtube video :) Seems they make the noise by vibrating their surroundings
