How do you kill the larger bugs when playing solo?
They literally one or two hit you the only way to fight them as far as I can tell is to cheese them on terrain.

With lady bug armor + block you can roast them solo.

Agreed. With ladybug armor+mint mallet I've defeated 4 orb weavers simultaneously by just swinging until I got tired and then blocking until my stam regened. They didn't even bring me down to half health. Now how do you get the ladybug armor? Well you chould cheese them on the terrain like you mentioned but their charge attack can make that risky. My advice is to wear acorn armor and use the ant club. SAVE FIRST. Attack from behind and try to focus your attention on running around to the side of the ladybug as it's not very good at tracking compared to spiders (but hits much harder than an orb weaver). When you have the ladybug armor, go for the insect hammer and use the insect hammer to get the mint mallet. When you finally have the ladybug+mint mallet combo you can stick with it or start working towards a full set of archery gear, as archery is currently the highest DPS build.

At first when played I learnt to stay above them on grass and shoot down with arrows until they are dead, get close to them though otherwise their life will re fill after a certain time of not attacking them. Not the best with ants as they tend to eat the grass you are on, yet ladybirds it works well, preferably beside the pond area where they are.

Ladybugs are really easy to perfect block because as long as you stick close they always use the same attack.
It's pretty slow with a huge windup animation so it's pretty much impossible to miss the timing.

Bombardiers i personally prefer to kill with the bow + aphid slippers.
They'll start charging to use their acid which you can bait and evade just by running past them, after that they lob slow moving acid spit at range until the acid spit is back off cooldown.

Stinkbugs are similar to ladybugs, except you need to bait the gas attack first if you don't already have a gas mask.

You also don't NEED to fight enemies in 1on1 or cheese them, you can also build walls (with windows) to hide behind. As long as the bug has a path to it (you need to build on the ground) it will attack the structures trying to get at you, giving you ample time to fill it with spears or arrows.

Especially at the beginning it pays off to build a low platform with a few walls around it near spawnpoints of big bugs and just keep a basket full of pebblet spears and an eyepatch there.
12-15 thrown spears will definitely kill bombardiers and stinkbugs, not sure about ladybugs and spiders. But it's much faster than using the sprig bow and has less ammo to pick up after.

Learn to circle strafe and practice block timings. Have minimum of acorn armor for harder targets and preferably a minimum of ant club for your weapon. Honestly that’s all there is to it. Find an enemy, save before fighting, reload if you die, and learn from each death what does and doesn’t work.

Meleeing enemies is perfectly viable and really all I do as I don’t like how finicky ranged combat is with the target retreating and potentially regening their health.

Learning to block is probably the best skill you can learn to fight larger bugs. Even with acorn armor, good blocking can take down any foe.

I can't say better ;)

Ways not to get 1 shot.

Walnut armor
Lady bug armor
Green machine smoothie
Human food smoothie (increases defense so you take less dmg).
First aid bandages

Highly recommend having armor for going against spiders, and having bandages AND smoothie on quick bind.

Lure trap + spike traps arround it. Easy to kill most of the bugs. I think it is fair of the game to expect of you to use traps in that way. You are a tiny, squishy bag of meat. So in person hunting should be your last resort.

This.. makes a lot of sense. A stabby twig trap would do a lot more damage to a big chitinous spider than anything you can hold in your little arms. You would need deadfall traps though because bugs don't weigh enough to impale themselves on sharp objects.

That is why I make them angry at me and then make them charge headfirst into my traps :) Works! Would love for more trap types in the game. Like sticky spiderweb traps and such. Poison Spike traps... uh... electrocution traps later on. Cooking meat?

Except that traps are more resource intensive and require more setup compared to just walking up to the spider and beating it to death with your ant club or mint mallet so I still think it's not a great option.
