Grounded
After recent patch, cannot find a multiplayer game
Hi,

We've been playing this with my wife, but after recent patch it seems that we cannot find each others online game. I've checked that the firewall allows the communication to happen, but it still does not fix the issue.

We tried using the xbox companion to send the invites, but when I send the invite to my wife, she receives it but still cannot join the game. After she clicks "join game", MS Store tells her that she needs an app to do this. If we go to the MS Store to see what app it is trying to tell us to get, it takes us to MS Store's Grounded page to purchase the game. To clarify, we both own the steam copy and everything has been fine before the latest patch.

Grounded is not shown in the Xbox apps list of games, and when you try to add it through "my game is not on the list" button, it takes you to a Xbox.support error webpage that says "Hey, what happened to this page". For some reason I am still able to send the invite to her, and it does not give me the notification of needing to purchase the game from MS Store as well.

Does anyone else have this issue, and is there an easy solution for this? I tried searching the support page for Xbox Companion, but it is quite poor website and seems to revolve around Xbox itself and not that much on the companion app on the PC.

having the same problem after patch. We are playing on PC and we cannot find each others game either.
Also having same problem on the PC. After the patch, friends can no longer join the game. If I invite to lobby through Steam it pulls them in but regardless of which character they select it starts them in the start new game spot(near baseball) and they are frozen for a few seconds and then the game kicks them out.
I had no issue with people joining games who lived in separate residences. A conflict arose when people who lived in the same house could not see/join each others games.
So I managed now to add Grounded into the XboX Companion app. Here's a link to guide in case someone else wants to try https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/my-games-apps/how-to-manage-my-games-list-in-the-xbox-console-companion-app-on-windows-10

However that made the issue even worse. When you launch the game through the Companion app, it does not let you sign into your MS account at all. It goes through the credential process, but after completing everything you are just taken back to main menu as "offline user".
Have the same issue as well. I'm on PC and I can't see my fellow Steam or Xbox player's games, However, When I host, Only my xbox friends can see and join my game just fine. It's weird. Is there some workaround? or is it another bug, as it cropped up after the latest update.

I would be surprised if it is not related to the recent updated, as we only encountered it after the september patch. Hope they fix it soon, or tell us how to actually host/join multiplayer now.
Having same issue here, just to add some info we are both in the same residence, I can see her games when she tries to host, but she cannot see mine. :(
To add to everything above, we are still able to play other games (like Stardew Valley and Terraria) together. So I'd say this issue is Grounded specific. I've also tried turning all antivirus and firewall completely off to hopefully allow connection. However, no luck.
thanks for the feedback. I deduced it could only be a Grounded issue that cropped up on the 0.3 update. Let's hope they do fix it soon. My friends and I really do enjoy playing this game together and we feel put out right now.
Same issue for us.. Before the patch, we had sync issues big time... now we have a hard time joining up 4 friends, major latency even tho we're all on good connections..
Same issues here. I had my game totally reset once; lately it just takes me 1/2 hour to get into the game. So worried I will lose all progress again, so we are storing all of our gear in chests before log-off (just in case). Doesn't save me from losing my mutations though :(
We are able to join the other's game now. You'll need to have the game running only on the host computer first. Then the player that wants to join while on desktop right-clicks the host from the steam friends menu and selects "join game". The game will launch and after you've logged in, it will soon take you to the lobby.
Same here. I do hope the development team can find out why I could not connect with a friend who actually is playing with me in the same location.
same here tried inviting from steam and joining froms team

no luck

was able to join from steam as long as friend hosting was still in lobby - however, of the 4 of us, one was ALWAYS kicked off at joining the actual game and then could NOT join from STEAM because we were not in the lobby. After an hour of back and forth with this we gave up and decided to play something else. Very sad - we were having so much fun with this game until they broke the co-op part!
