I thought it was kinda like Left 4 Dead where strangers could just join our game.
Random stranger can join but not sure if it costs money or not. But I also had in mind that Xbox live is similar to Playstation Plus where you have to pay for multiplayer...
Oh, God... That sucks.. How's ur experience so far with the game? Do u think it's worth it? And what's the best way to play it? With a controller or a keyboard?
The Game is fun to play but in the current state kinda lacks something to do besides building a base and farming (Full Story not ingame yet - early access). But I would say it is worth it, because there is already alot to explore and alot of content. If you are into Survival-Games, it is worth it...
But I am having some issues after quiting the Game. Steam doesn't register that I closed the game and keeps telling me it is still running (fix for that is to restart steam).
I prefer Keyboard and mouse, and because of fighting I think it is the better way to play it (Unless you are good with controller).
You need a live account, like any live account such as a hotmail.com, outlook.com etc. or just the email account you use to store your Win 10 license(s), which can even be a gmail email, etc. if you've activated it as an MS Live login.
You don't have to pay anything. It does not require an Xbox Live Gold subscription for MP as you would need if playing on an XBox console.
Also, it's not like L4D either, because there is no public matchmaking or unofficial dedicated servers. It's private, friends only style MP that is hosted P2P networked. You add people (follow them) through the social tab in the XBOX (Beta) App from the Windows Store and then they can join your hosted games or you theirs.
Some people say you do though, is this the right answer? I am worried because my family want to play this game together, we all have a hotmail address, is that really all we need? I am reading in places you need a Xbox subscription account to play together
Yes, for sure. You only need a subscription if you're playing on XBOX 1. PC just requires a basic live account per user. I've played with 3 other friends and none of us bought anything besides the game. We don't even have consoles so none of us would have an XBOX Live Gold sub and I'm an old miser who would sooner torch the game and devs as pay for MP access for any PC game (I don't even like the standard MMO pay-to-play model).
One thing I'll say about the live account stuff is this: you get one free name change for your gamer tag. Use it wisely. Each name change after that costs $10, which is kind of stupid, but as long as you know going in that you only get the one and make sure you're happy with it, then at least you've been warned and know what to expect.
Last night I signed in and played with a friend via XBL. Encountered no issues with that--though I understand the OP has no interest thought I'd mention since another post seemed to imply it might be hinkey. For sure session settings and invites (which dev says is coming) would be nice to have.
Er no..
The reason it is required partly because yes xbox sucks.. but partly because it's a good selling point and mostly, because the xbox app already has a tracking system in place, like steam to allow players to connect and play together.
It is this system that is important here.. we have to "log into" steam to play sp.. then we need to "log into" xbox.. to play mp. If we're on Xbox.. well, they don't need to log into steam. So to xbox players.. steam sucks.
Ideally in the future we won't need to log into xbox to join steam hosts. But, it's a microsoft partnered software..so it's totally expected they'll want to try to sell their hardware products to anyone on steam including xbox stuff.
As for MS Store.. I'd uninstall bloatware like that. MS Store is continually watching what you look at and buy and flooding updates much like steam does.. to try to get you to buy buy buy.. so at least get rid of one of them. We don't need corporations watching what we do to make our decisions for us.. we can do that ourselves.
Nope, not for me.
Good luck with that.
