You might need to bring a few curatives because the blast poison stays even when its been unleashed meaning you might take some tick damage while dodging.
I fight quite a few bombadier beetles in this montage. Some 2v1. At the 8:11 mark of the video you'll see just how far in front of the beetle the acid can hit. You have the right idea trying to stand behing the cone of the attack. If you were in front of the beetle during the initial start of the acid attack animation you will not be quick enough to move behind the beetle even in spider armor.
The easiest method i demonstrate is to stand in front of the beetle then move away. He will lock himself into the acid spray animation and you'll be far enough away to not get hit. Just bait that attack run away then come back into melee range.
Beetle so far is the only bug with more than just 2 attacks. If you move far away they will spam the long range acid attack which is easy to dodge with strafing and not standing still.
The close range acid attack has a cooldown. So after you bait it out you will only have to worry about his bite.
I'm playing on Whoa!, everything hurts.
I'd hazard to guess that Gas Arrows will work as they do with the lava/stink bugs.
Run circles around it.
Huh, I usually bait them away from their area with an bow and arrow.
