This Xbox Bar/Social thing is so confusing..

It say's I've linked my ms account to my steam account but what does that even do?
Trying to add people to my friends list is really annoying.. the popup to add people is above the nametag.. and you can't move it.

To get Xbox Game Bar up, its Win Key + G default.
Your name is displayed.

No idea about any friends list tho. You can follow people and invite them.. not sure what either do.

Game bar is recording stuff. You dont need it.

First offf are you trying to add steam friends through steam on xbox companion app

It uses gamer tags (Your profile name on xbox companion console)

I'm trying to access the ability to invite someone on my steam games list into my grounded hosted game... there appears to be a friends list within the xbox game bar.. but it's empty.

I've received a msg from a guy via the game bar, but he hasn't responded thus far. And sent two follows to people.. what's a follow?

And what's the Xbox companion app?
When I click on player list ingame.. just me on it..

Interestingly I can invite people to watch grounded.. but not to play it on my steam friends list.

You dont invite people through steam. You invite people through the xbox companion app. If they are on your friendlist on xbox.com they will see your lobby if you have your network properly setup (Port forward etc)

Ok so I need to get this xbox companion app.. and work from there. I did notice something about teredo not seeing my network.. somewhere.

Ok got xbox companion is lists the same 2 friends as xbox game bar.. both offline tho. There's one guy looking for group for grounded... I have made a "party" in companion no idea what that is.

Nah linking happens when you log in the game.

Martin if you are on windows 10 next to the start menu there should be a search box: Xbox Companion-Console

You want to find that.

Are they logged in and showing themselves as online?

One is shown as online on steam, but is offline on xbox companion.. does he need to open Grounded to be "seen" on xbox companion or should his pc not be seen automatically? My xbox companion can see my pc as being online..

Scotland/Uk mate, are you east coast or west or somewhere in middle? I usually have ok ping to east coast us.. around 100 ms or so.

Invite sent.. would be nice just to get the system working.. so I know it's sorted. Even if playing was difficult, in Scrap Mechanic for example, I play with a guy from Russia and one from Canada and it's laggy as hell to connect to them, but sm is laggy anyway.
