it's also a honeypot to groom children into believing Microsoft store is a wonderful ecosystem. Sure worked for Epic when the millenials wouldn't stop whining about it. Besides Microsoft tried this already with its intrusive Games For Windows LIVE a decade ago, it was so bad it actually encouraged piracy just to make games playable. Promising crossplay achieves and to play with Xbox 360 players, did anyone care? No, there was a reason people bought computers then and now.
Again, back to Angry Joe's last 10 minutes of his video they bought it twice trying to get it to work on a single computer it burns account info deeper than Denuvo. They say the same thing happened with Sea Of Thieves, and with Microsoft Store if something goes wrong there's no customer protection it's pay up again hoping it works. Bad Business.
Linus also did a video on how horrible UWP gamewalls are.

"Honeypot to groom children" lmao
You need to get a grip on what is important in life. What application we use to play video games is not it, and Valve/GOG are not your friends. They just are older marketplaces that you are more comfortable with. UWP is also something that has allowed Xbox exclusives to run immediately on PC with limited issues. You don't have to play these games, no one does, they are entertainment products. Move along to another entertainment product and enjoy your life rather than ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan about how unfair it is that corporations are looking out for their business interests. Christ.
It wasn't that long ago when Microsoft tried the same pursuation tactic of Cross Play with it's Microsoft Store excluuuusive Quantum Break. I never played it all I remember is the year following hate. Steering clear of clickbait youtubers on the subject now, I even see The Escapist video hating on the store, delivery, and intrusive anti-piracy measures that rendered game useless to purchases calling them pirates. This was 4 years ago not ancient history.
Now that it is on Steam, I browse through those community threads with angry customers.
UWP isn't good dude. Even Epic CEO was in the news back then about their Gears of War PC release condeming Microsoft and their UWP.

Man do I have my priorities messed up.
Xbox Game Pass for PC does not require a console. It's $1 for the first month, $5 a month after and you have access to all the games in the gamepass library. And it's expansive.
Just in the 5-10 games I've played on it this year game pass has paid for itself for many years to come.
no thanks, i would rather pay the money and have the game, not pay to rent a game that could be removed from xbox live when ever it wants.
as well, i dont play games on console i play games on pc, so i dont need xbox live BS on my pc.
that being said, subscription services have always been and always will be garbage, when it comes to games.
What games from a year ago do you still play today? How many did you play more than 5 hours? How many have seen deep discounts since you purchased them?
if not, just make one for free and make a gamer tag and you're done. When you start the game login and whamm, never have to do to it again especially if on windows 10. I cant tell for windows 7. Support for 7 dropped 8 months ago.
This isnt opinionated. This is streight up facts
The only reason would need the microsoft store app is if you actually wanted to get benefits like use of the xbox game pass to play play anywhere titles. (which again, dodnt require any subscription thats paid, to play online).
AngryJoe isnt really tech savvy. If he has conflicts on one his 20+ computers because different people use it, thats on him, not on xbox.
But if you only want to play on solo only (don't care about the multi), do you absolutely need the Xbox Live account or not ?
Wish I could upvote. The game for PC multi-player requires zero money outside of purchasing the game. Requiring a Microsoft account the same way EA games/Origin/Ubisoft require a secondary login. If you are a PC player you require zero extra money to play online. I played with a friend all night last night, no issues at all.
