steam deck controls dont work

I was looking for some info right now. I have exactly the same problem...the controls are weird in general but the cia training is impossible.

I was able to compete the whole game on deck, only minor issues with right joystick accuracy for QTE, very apparent during the CIA training fight scene, but eventually figured it out. Overall, got the ending I wanted and wasn’t too screwed by the joystick issues (steam deck settings show its working fine so must be in-game)

I found maybe moving the joystick not all the way to the end of its movement range and doing it slow-ish helped. Even on some times, if it said left, to do a more upwards left than just straight to the left, etc. good luck!

Having difficulties too, playing with a PS4 controller work fine, but the right stick on the deck was acting, especialy trying to turn Aiden to the right and of course the QTEs. QTEs was hard to control and turning right was kinda impossible. I feel like the gyro might be the culprit... Its disabled but still detect the motion required in some QTEs.

Came here for this too. If I play with my PS5 controller it works perfectly...with steam deck the controls are CRAZY...if you go beyond a fraction of a movement it says it's wrong and Ayden controls are really wonky.

I've played with mine without any issue after I noticed the QTE for the gyroscope

Was hoping maybe a solution had been found for this.
Issue isn't limited to the deck or SteamOS/Proton. Same issue happens on the deck running Windows and on Windows desktop using a Steam Controller. XBox/PS controllers play fine though.

Came here for this and wasn't disappointed. Verified my ass. This game is so broken on here, it was a testament to my self restraint that I didn't just smash my Steam Deck over my own head. It's literally unplayable.

they work, but they are horribly optimized for this part. There just is incredibly bad timing needed to be done, but once you get the hang of them it gets easier.

Steam deck user here, after i get punched a bunch of times i tried to change the settings to use right trackpad as joystick, a little bit difficult than it should be but it worked.

I bought this thing on sale and was way past dreaming of a refund when I actually played it. I finally got it to work by going into controller settings and selecting the official layout for steam controller. The default is apparently PS4. Here’s the important part. Use the steam deck right trackpad for the time sensitive events. Swipe. Not the right joystick. You can still use the right stick outside of those events. I ended up using both of them to play the game. The trackpad isn’t ideal outside of those scenes.
