How do you save a game?

Evidently, the game saves on exit although there is no mention of auto-save during startup. I see a 'Load Game' in the menu but there is nothing to tell you how to save a game.
Is there a manual save option? If so, how do you get there or what keys are used? Thanks in advance...

There's no manual save instead there's a origami figure in the bottom right corner to let you know the game has saved.
