FIX for crashing/freezing/slow/low FPS/stuttering game
Hello, thought this might help someone because I was going crazy trying to figure out why the game won't run on high graphics, I have a GTX 2070 Super, and the game was constantly stuttering or crashing and I was thinking to myself, while my GPU is not the latest one, there is no way my GPU can't handle this old game from 2010. I found the reason for that to be simply because the game defaults to my integrated GPU rather than the much more powerful GTX 2070 Super,
The way to fix that is that you gotta go to the graphics settings of the windows. just type "graphics settings" in the Windows search function. once you are in graphics settings look for the game in the list there, if it's not there, browse and find the installation folder and add the exe file. it should be in the Steam folder if you bought the game from Steam. once you add the game, click on it and then select "high performance", should be your other GPU than the integrated one. once you do that, run the game and it should play nice a smooth on higher graphics that your GPU should be able to handle.

@neversaynever
thank you for taking time posted this up. I also have just started to play this game and have similar experience, this post saved my precious time to troubleshoot.

For me after open Graphics Settings, I found the "HeavyRain.exe" in the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\HEAVY RAIN" (bought the game via Steam).

Thanks again!

Very helpful!
In my case, I was able to find and add the game console directly from windows 11 settings -> system -> display -> graphics -> browse and it worked.
