Starting up xbox one controller not detected

As the title says, I get a notification when the game is starting up that "load steam controller configuration file failed" I've tried resetting steam like it asked, and then my entire PC and it's still doing this. I also cleared my cache for both downloads and browser. My controller works for all other games so I don't understand why its not working for this.

emulate I dont care if you have a MS xbox or steam controller.. emulate
this game is old..
and win 10 is new.

use scptoolkit just watch out as alt tabbing seems to force KB and mouse back ffs

seems fine here
my guess is you are using headphones?
or insane 5.1 or such

try going to your control panel for your audio and using HEADPHONES and forcing stereo only this will let those voices which are playing falsely low on back and front speakers to come back up

common issue with many games this
and movies
ever notice how movies music is LOUD then talking gets low? yeah
same thing here

Same problem. The error keeps popping up after I tried to solve the right stick rotation bug by changing a controller layout.

use emulation
never windows drivers

BUT since we have well hackers
either
1. Dont use steam or windows drivers for that controller, emulate
2. read below, from the torrent comments

again do not enjoy MS controllers in games much longer, these are going away

To fix the XBOX controller error message copy and paste this into GamepadSetting.txt:

START_BUTTON=START

BACK_BUTTON=BACK

left_bumper=LBUMPER

right_bumper=RBUMPER

a_button=A

b_button=B

x_button=X

y_button=Y

left_click=LSTICK

left_axis_abs=LJOY=joystick_move

LEFT_TRIGGER=DLTRIGGER

right_trigger=DRTRIGGER

RIGHT_CLICK=RSTICK

right_axis_abs=RJOY=joystick_move

dpad_up=DUP

dpad_down=DDOWN

dpad_right=DRIGHT

dpad_left=DLEFT

this doesnt work for all controllers nor does it work with the new version of the updated game since removal of the controller tab under the games pref

it's not removed mate as discussed in the other post, it works for Xbox and Steam controllers

1. Steam removed the controller option toggle during the LATEST gui update
1b. They put it back on the most recent patch update after screwing up the store and other games in library. *new GUI is getting ready to look just like xbox.

You do NOT need an XBOX or steam controller to use this
you can use
ps2 ps3 ps4 controllers too

Do you mean in steam now?
The controller option, is back there now, but not for ps3 ps4 controllers

Depends on what you believe in
I have zero faith in MS drivers for controllers
even with xbox controllers they dont get it right, and no one should use them
hence why steam made a controller

do you have ds3? ds4?
if so and need help let me know

post back matey, if its just a controller being fickle thats the game, use the controller tab in library
but if you have a ps controller or want to use non pos ms drivers
